Charlie's is a hidden gem that has mastered the art of delivering top-notch barroom style pizza that's nothing short of legendary. As a devoted pizza enthusiast, I recently had the pleasure of indulging in their offerings, and boy, did they leave a lasting impression!
Their barroom style pizza boasts a thin, crispy crust that's the stuff of dreams. With just the right amount of chewiness and a delightful crunch, each bite is a symphony of flavors and textures that dance on your palate. And let's not forget about the square pizza – it's like a heavenly marriage of tradition and innovation, with a thicker crust that perfectly complements the generous toppings.
But Charlie's culinary magic extends beyond pizza. Their chicken tenders, a non-pizza menu highlight, are a testament to their commitment to quality and taste. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and bursting with flavor, these tenders are a must-try for anyone seeking a satisfying non-pizza option.
The variety on their menu is impressive, and each item seems to be prepared with the same level of care and attention to detail. It's evident that they take immense pride in crafting dishes that delight the taste buds and leave you craving more.
The ambiance of Charlie's adds to the overall experience. It's a cozy, welcoming space that invites you to sit back, relax, and enjoy your meal in a setting that feels like a home away from home.
In a world full of pizza places, Charlie's stands out as a shining star, offering a masterclass in both classic and innovative pizza styles. Whether you're a fan of barroom style or square pizza, or even if you're seeking non-pizza options, Charlie's has something special in store for you. It's a place where every visit is a flavorful adventure, and every bite is a reminder of the joys of well-crafted...
Read moreAfter visiting Nahant and the Lynn shore my two sisters and I Googled seafood restaurants for lunch. As expected Anthony's Hawthorne came up but I have dined there twice and found that it was no longer the seafood place it once was. IMHO it had become a tourist trap. I saw an ad for Charlie's in Lynn and since all restaurants are takeout right now due to the virus what difference would it make? It was just a small Mom and Pop type place on Essex Street about a mile from the beach. We were greeted by two very friendly and helpful young ladies who informed us of the various ways to order lobster rolls and all three of us went for the dinners with fries and cole slaw. I have to compliment the staff very highly. They were real sharp and a credit to any company. Polite and helpful people like that are very rare. Kudos to management! In about 15 minutes our orders were ready. We found that lots of napkins, salt and ketchup were in the bags without us even asking! The lobster rolls were first class. Golden brown grilled rolls, lettuce liners, and chock full of tender large chunks of lobster. Had to be a lobster in each roll. The fries were hot and crisp and the coleslaw was crunchy and not too mayonaissy, they seem to use a lighter mix, maybe more mild vinegar. If you can do without the atmosphere of an ocean view, get your seafood at Charlie's. Three very happy visitors from NJ and NH here! PS to management: You had excellent staff doing counter duty on Sunday, June 21 around 1 p.m. I'd steal them from you if I had a local...
Read moreThey've always been the most expensive seafood place in the area, but their prices aren't higher by much compared to others in the area and their portions are sized right. The other day though, I was charged $113 for a junior seafood combo, scallop plate, and lobster roll. They would have charged me 4% extra to use a credit card, so I left and got some cash from an ATM.
When I returned to pay, they would not give me an itemized receipt to prove what I paid for my food. If there is a menu board in the store, it wouldn't be accurate because the seafood prices change. The menu online certainly is not accurate and is out of date, but that's all I have to go by when I order by phone.
For the the amount of money I paid, I should have got proof of what I paid for the items. I could probably file a complaint with the attorney general but I won't bother. A bad review is more effective and less of a hassle.
Between the surcharge for credit card orders, which you only find out about when you show up to pay, and their refusal to give me an itemized receipt, I will not return. This place is not operating honestly. I will go to Dube's in Salem instead. Since Dube's has a bar and does plenty of dine-in service, I'm sure I can get an itemized receipt for takeout food and know what I paid for.
The food was good...
