I have finally given up on this place, After 3 years of living a block away, as convenient it was for me to get there and even tough some of the food is good I couldn’t bare spend my money there anymore. My first issue a few years back was when I went to eat there with a friend and we noticed some people leaving as we were arriving we’ll when they walked out the waitress/owner decided to start cleaning the table and my friend n I noticed she grabbed the water jug she had given to them and brought it to our table because it was untoched (excuse me while I throw up) but I decided not to make a fuss and just NOT DRINK IT! So I give the place another chance this time I ordered chips at the beginning and when they got to me I tasted one and they tasted stale and as I reach for another chip I noticed a half eaten hot carrot in my basket of chips they brought me which made me believe they must have taken the basket from a different table and just brought it to me when I brought it to the lady’s attention she was shocked and didn’t know what to tell me And to top it off the chicken soup they brought me had nothing but fat in it I gave them one last chance considering they are convenient for me to take my kids to eat and after I called the used basket of chips to her attention she was just plain rude to me n my husband after that wouldn’t even bring us their usual complimentary dessert anymore only to tables around us so I decided to stop going there and yet my parents were also regulars so they had gone on a separate occasion and they ordered soup as well and they come with torillas well my mother and father not being people that normally let little things get to them couldn’t help but notice one of the tortillas was cloder than the rest with a bite and teeth marks they paid walked it and now will never return I don’t like leaving bad reviews and I’m sad I won’t be able to just stop in after the park as I always did with my kids all because they try to conserve this isn’t ok there are way to many diseases out here for them not to be...
Read moreWe have been coming here for years. Whenever my parents would offer Mexican food, I would choose this place over Uncle Julio’s. I have recommended this place multiple times to many of my attorney friends in the city. So it comes with great shock, that this time was horrible all around. First of all, enchiladas verdes don’t come in a red tortilla. They simply don’t. That’s why you have different kinds of enchiladas; you have green, mole, red sauce, and Potosínas. This was not green enchiladas. This was you saving time and using red tortillas on all enchiladas. Now I let that one go. I decided to get tacos to make up for it. Well, somehow that order was also wrong. I don’t know how you get asada out of Al Pastor with the same cold tortillas from my table. One of the servers barely wanted to talk to me let alone ask me what beverage I wanted. We’ve been coming here for a long time. Back when they would offer you an appetizer taco (delish) and arroz con leche as dessert. I am extremely disappointed with the service and food this time. For now, I won’t be coming back for a while. I hope the next time we do, the food goes back to being the same delicious food it was. I’m not driving all the way from downtown or Downers Grove for what I experienced...
Read moreTHIS PLACE IS THE HAS REALLY GREAT MEXICAN FOOD. I'm so mad my phone died and I couldn't take pictures but man is it worth the hike from where I live (portage park). We started with a small appetizer that was complimentary, a little taste of what would change my life forever, Chicharron prensado. It came as a little taste, something very common in mexico, of what the restaurant has to offer. I ended up ordering a taco for myself and two for my husband to take home. my mother and her friend shared a mole and cecina dinner, both packed with flavor. I truly feel this place is very special. So much so that the place was filled with regulars that are well known to the staff. The waitress made him a cake for his birthday. He himself reccomended that we try the guava atole. which was light a full of guava flavor. Dona Maria is one of the few places that understands quality over quantity. If your tired of the same old mexican food, come to Antojitos Dona Maria and reinvigorate your authentic mexican palate. I will...
