I used to live in Downer’s Grove, Illinois back in the 80’s. Before I left Chicago I was introduced to El Famous Burrito’s. We would go to El Famous no less than 3 times a week. I had never had a bad experience. The burritos are always fresh and awesome, the best burritos I have ever had! When I moved out of state and for the next 30 years I have been on the hunt for any comparable burrito, to no avail. Over the years I had friends that lived in Chicago areas that would send us the burritos about 6-8 times a year. Now that they have all moved out of Chicago over the years, there was no opportunity to obtain the burritos. Before Christmas my Wife & I were tired of Turkey, Ham, etc. and wanted something different for Christmas Dinner. My wife kept telling me to call El Famous directly to see if we could get them to ship. I did so and got in touch with Isabel at the Summit location. Isabel is amazing and worked with us to get us the burritos, as she had never done a shipment before. We ordered 30 burritos and Isabel was able to send them and all the fixings and sauces to us which arrived the Saturday before Christmas. We have shared these with our friends and family, and they have all agreed that they are the best burritos they have ever tasted. Our friends have now put orders in for when we do order again. We are getting ready to order another batch of Burrito’s. Best Burritos in the Nation and best Service beyond what I could imagine. Thank...
Read moreI have catered from them for years and we just catered for my husbands 30th birthday and all i can say is i am so disappointed. We did the math for about 22 adults so we rounded it to 25 people. When we have catered before we would get generous portions of food. We would get everything like sour cream and cheese and tomatoes and even the plates n napkins and forks. We recieved half a tray of chicken not even full ans half a tray of steak. No sour cream. The tray of guacamole weighed more than the tray of fajitas. Horrible. We had to order 4 pizzas to feed our crowd which ended up being only about 15 adults. There was no food left and we barey made it to feed the adults. Luckily the kids had pizza which there was only like 5 yound kids under 10. I called when i recieved the food and Benny the owner claimed that he measured. I asked him did they half the portions because we have ordered before and always have lots of food left over. Plus ontop of it our food was not ready by the time we agreed. Ridiculous. 'No type of refund or anything was offered. I left another message for the owner because i was completely ripped off!! Have not had a call back. We will never be catering from here nor i will be...
Read moreI'm from Orland park and grew up on El famous, brought my colleagues for a Saturday meal and we enjoyed the food. Food good.
Then I got a surprise on the bill, having to come out surprisingly high. I first wasn't happy that they had us sit down and get full service expecting us to pay tip. This was annoying. Then upon reviewing the bill, I noticed they charged me $24 for the ultimate burritos whe. The price on the menu was listed for $18. The steak nachos also was charged higher than advertised.
I brought it up to the cashier and they said that the prices are subject to change without notice, pointing to a fine print at the bottom of the menu.
I told them this is against the law and I can report it to the authorities and the cashier said that this is what the owner decided and its not their fault. I don't blame the cashiers but this is a really bad business practice.
Unfortunately, I will not be coming back to El famous again. $105 for 3 of us on a lunch. This is unacceptable. Not a good idea to treat your customers this way.
El famous should be a great quick bite, great flavors at affordable prices, no tip. As they were in the past. This is...
