I was excited to see a Mexican restaurant by my new home the staff was really nice so things started off well. I didn't feel like sitting down to eat so we ordered to go 4 meals in total. 1st both of my daughters chicken tenders meals were so hard that #1 neither of them finished them (they love chicken tenders) and #2 one of them cracked a tooth biting into the over fried chicken tender / batter that was the 1st disappointment. I ordered a combo so that I would have left overs for the next day the beef burrito was so salty (I usually eat my food salter than most people) that I could not consume it and immediately spit it out. The chicken burrito was ok but their red sauce almost tasted like spaghetti sauce and it was not appealing I actually scraped it off the 1 burrito I ate. The chicken taco tasted like dirt I am assuming it was the lettuce or tomatoes (which were like mush) & I could not eat it either. My 14 yr old son who is by all accounts a human garbage disposal and will eat anything ate half of his burrito and threw the rest away. The only thing I did enjoy was the rice and beans. I was truly disappointed to spend $45 on food that 75% could not be eaten. Growing up in Orange Park/ Jax we always ate at LA Nopalera which has always been the best authentic Mexican place in town. I guess I had higher expectations but it's sad when you'd rather eat Taco Bell instead of the only Mexican restaurant in town.... My mom had raved about it previously so I was excited to eat there but when i told her about my experience she said they stopped by there one night after leaving my house and they did not enjoy it. Maybe its under new management...
Read moreI've been going to this restaurant for seven years. The food is no better than any other Mexican restaurant with the exception of El Patio who royally sucks. Laredo's service is outstanding making it worth the trip. Today, I was seated behind people who had absolutely no couth. No, my expectations are not that of a high class restaurant. I could not place my order for a long time, the order was not delivered for a great length of time, I dropped my fork and was actually going to use it dirty and when I had enough, I needed a to go box. This was all due to those obnoxious people giving know it all real estate advice to our waitress and another waitress sat with them while the loud non stop talking lady was giving her advice on being quite and not telling people everything. I had to all but pry my waitress away from them. I am by no means high class, but I do in fact have couth. I believe that if a restaurants food is one hundred percent acceptable, service such as I received, can break the bank. By the way, this is not a large place and was at about thirty percent. There four waitresses, so my experience was...
Read moreNew to town and so glad we stopped by Laredo's to try their food. The tortillas and salsa were excellent, the chips were warm and light, unlike others that use thick chips, there were thin, perfectly seasoned and were just thick enough to scoop up salsa without breaking the chip. My hubby ordered a combo plate of a taco, burrito and enchilada, which he commented was very good. I ordered the chicken con crema, which was superb. The chicken was juicy, the cheese and cream sauce was velvety smooth and tasted amazing. I could have eaten the sauce by itself as a soup, it was that good. The little bit left on the plate we both had on the tortilla chips, and it was wonderful on those, too. All the food came out warm and freshly made. The decor is Mexican with carved motifs in the chairs and on the dividers on the booths. Service was quick.
You know what I'll be headed back soon for...more of the chicken con crema...pretty sure my hubby will be ordering the same. May be a while before I force myself to try another dish, as the one is...
