Bear Bottom Inn — Restaurant in Mackay

This might be the worst dining experience I've ever had. Upon arriving, we were told that there was no pizza or chicken wings. Ok, we will have something else. We ordered after a wait that seemed excessive. We waited over an hour for our dinner with very light traffic at the time we were there. My sweet potato fries came out burnt to a crisp. Service was terrible. No forks because they were dirty, so they said. I guess that they couldn't be washed? The staff made excuse after excuse. "They had to catch up" was the excuse they said, but when we arrived, there were hardly any people dining. Catch up to what? We watched another couple get increasingly angry with the wait. Their food came after ours, and their fries were not black. It seems like there was over 30 minutes between the wifes salad and his burger. There was some staff family there on the patio who were treated like kings, which tells you where the staffs priorities were. We asked several times for drinks to be refilled only to be ignored. Not once did the staff stop by to apologize for the wait. They were not embarrassed to serve burnt black fries. All in all, the evening was a joke. And when I made my dissatisfaction known. The staff laughed it off and made more excuses. Was it because we were from out of town? Our experiences elsewhere in town were all fantastic. This place? Was terrible. Seriously terrible. Well thought this would be a great weekend came for a family memorial. We had 2 rooms for the weekend and went in the first room seemed good looked clean didn't have a stench, walked into the Second room and had the most horrible moldy wet mildew smell in the room. Called and asked for them to check it out a woman and man came over as if there was no smell and what a burden we were to call and inform them of the stench coming from the room, the couple did not say anything and walked away. We had others come smell the room and they definitely smell what we were smelling but the coustmer is the burden!!!We went to the market paid over 10.00 for room spray that did not help the situation. Ordered food the food was good Ordered a salad and asked for a fork and the response we got was unbelievable the coustmer service was horrible and so were the rooms!!!!! No instructions on check in. Got key and paid at restaurant next door. Was closed when we checked out the next morning, so left key in room and door unlocked. Room was cutely decorated and had fridge and microwave. Small TV with no good channels (shopping, Spanish, religious, and reality TV). Tiny bathroom with sink and mirror outside in main room. Poor lighting in room. Small table with two chairs. Ramp to boardwalk, but room not wheelchair accessible. This motel is a strip of five rooms next to the restaurant. Parking in gravel lot in front. Cute little walkable town with museum and a couple of bars and a handful of restaurants. Also a small grocery store and a gas/conscience store.
