I never ever leave reviews but I am so broken hearted about this experience! We arrived around 2:45 with a party of 10. We were sat outside, which was gorgeous! They were not very busy at all which was great! We had all been on the road since about 5 am making several stops before our VRBO was ready, we were all very tired and very hungry! The hostess escorted us to the table and dropped off our menus and silverware. Everyone got seated and I passed out menus and silverware. Our server came round and got our drink order. She brought our drinks back and got our appetizer and entree order. She served my 8 year old in a large open cup, that’s an irk of mine but I realize that’s just me and my weirdness. She quickly brought us a to go cup which was awesome! Maybe 10 mins later our app showed up, fried pickles was delicious! And that was the last time we saw her for an HOUR. She never came to check on us, no refills, no apologies for the food taking so long…….nothing. Finally some of our group went in to get their own drinks. Our food arrived. I remembered from the last time I was there how wonderful it was. Man did I get my hopes up. I got the sliced brisket sandwich. The brisket was sliced so thick and was so dry I couldn’t even swallow it. The bread was literally dry toast and it just crumbled. The beans looked old, like they had been sitting under the heat lamp for at least 24 hrs. My husband commented that his brisket was so dry he had to keep putting sauce on it because the brisket was starved for moisture. One in our party who ordered the sliced brisket got pulled pork. Maybe it wasn’t pulled, just dry crumbled brisket? Who really knows? He didn’t eat it. My father in law who has dementia spilled his drink and instead of making him a new drink the server just filled up his cup with Dr Pepper, no ice. The ice showed up 10 mins later. We didn’t see our waitress again until we all got up to go inside to pay. Who knew you didn’t have to go inside to pay? Our 5 meals were 83.18, but I had to find that out on our bank statement. I never once saw a bill. I assume she added a gratuity, my husband did not tip. Also one thing that REALLY IRKED me was our server never once asked how our meal was, if we needed anything, and after we said thank you she NEVER ONCE said you’re welcome. Even my kids thanked her for getting their drinks and food! I think that bothered me most of all. I have never felt more like an inconvenience in my whole life. I was so excited to come back and eat at Butts on the Creek but I was really let...

The Fried Catfish Dinner came with two good-size pieces of fish, two sides, Texas toast, BBQ sauce and tartar sauce. My sides were fried corn on the cob and BBQ baked beans. Everything was exceptionally delicious 😋!!!

My husband got pulled pork on a buttered bun and cole slaw. Since he's not feeling well, he's only eaten some of the pork with BBQ sauce, but he likes it.

This is our first visit to this area. Before we arrived, I searched online for local restaurants. When we arrived, I searched some more, and this restaurant had the best reviews so I thought we couldn't go wrong eating here. And I was so right!

The service, atmosphere and food were phenomenal!!! We ordered our food to go when we got there and did not have to wait long for it. When it arrived, it was hot and smelling delicious! The young ladies who greeted us and took our orders were very helpful and friendly. When I asked questions about some of the menu items, the one taking our orders was extremely pleasant and answered all my questions. I had never heard of nor eaten fried corn on the cob before, and now, I'm hooked.

If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely come back. Thank you all so very much for such a pleasant experience 😊!!!

Oh, I had to come back and edit my review because I forgot to mention that I had so much food, there was enough for two meals 🙂!

Also, inside the restaurant is a little gift shop that sells handmade crystal pieces. There were two women there. One was crafting the pieces. I talked briefly with the other one who told me the designer has been doing it for 40 years. It's obvious that she is a seasoned artist because all of her pieces are so beautiful and extravagant!!! Since my husband wasn't feeling well, I did not get to stay long and talk more nor see everything, but I look forward to returning in the future...

So I stopped for the Wheels Through Time Museum and I saw this place on the way to the museum so after I was done at the Museum came back here and had some amazing barbecue I'm from Pennsylvania so I know we're not a barbecue Capital but there's a really good place near me called Frontier BBQ and they have an open air set up similar to this place however they're having staffing issues and all so they're only open on certain weekends unfortunately so I've been very starved for barbecue so when I saw this I was very excited and they did not disappoint I can't remember what fruit they said that they had mixed into the mustard sauce that they use but oh my God I wish they sold it in bottles I honestly I might come back down in the fall when it's cooler cuz that was my only issue I've been driving all day and I hadn't been using my air conditioner in the car so I was very hot and they don't have air conditioning that is the only reason that it's not five stars across the board simply for the fact that if you've been driving all day and you're hot and humid and tired some AC while you eat is really nice however when it's not quite so hot cuz it was 85° or hotter that day then it's definitely a nice place to sit it's by a creek it's in plenty of shade parking is a little bit tight it's great for motorcycles except for the Steep drop in and climb out but nice place I plan...

On the way to Cherokee, NC, we encountered Pop's Butts On The Creek and decided to stop there. My friend bought a T-shirt from the gift shop and after viewing the menu, we chose to stay there to grab some dinner. The location is really nice with both outdoor seating and screened in dining as well. Our server was helpful and suggested putting any 3 sides together for an appetizer. We chose the hush puppies, Mac and Cheese, along with the fried pickles. They came out quickly and also included a couple of slices of grilled Texas Toast. The hush puppies and pickles were amazing! The Mac and Cheese was a little dry but still had plenty of flavor. For dinner, I ordered the All-American Brisket Burger with a side of fries and my friend ordered a side of baked apples. My burger was delicious! The fries were plentiful but lukewarm at best. Had they been hot, their taste would have been so much better. My friend liked and enjoyed her baked apples. For dessert, she ordered the banana pudding and I ordered Pop's Bread Pudding. Both desserts were huge and really tasted good! They were a wonderful way to finish off dinner. I also recommend the fresh lemonade as it was refreshing and great! This is a hidden gem in Maggie Valley and I highly recommend seeking it out on your next trip to West North Carolina! It's worth it!

So what’s going on folks here we go again about three or four weeks ago me and my wife ventured to Pops butts on the creek in Maggie Valley North Carolina wow that was nice. That was a really nice refreshing meal to actually get some decent barbecue. I lived in Florida for quite a while and did my own barbecue and I was also on a cook team and a competition team and I haven’t found good barbecue in Tennessee or the Carolinas that really satisfies us until we went to Pops. We ordered the half chicken moist tender, seasoned just right it had a seasoning that I can’t place, but it was very, very good and all the sides were good. Our waitress was wonderful. She was Johnny on the spot with everything and we weren’t held hostage trying to leave And pay our bill. The beans were great everything everything was wonderful. I give it five stars we will be back we tried to get in a month earlier and they were full so you have to get there early or later in the evening. We went later in the evening and sit out on the porch and watch the river and just had a nice conversation, but we will definitely be back. Everything was spot on.
