Antiguas Grill — Restaurant in Magnolia

I went to this restaurant for the first time ever this evening. Nice ambience, good and tasty food, but terrible service. When I got there, I told the server to reserve a table for a total of 4 of us- myself and my work colleagues-who would be coming 30 minutes later. I also ordered a to-go meal. I paid for the food and even left a tip before the food was even ready. They ended up bringing the food as an eat-in. I reminded them it was a to-go order. They finally brought it and dumped it on my table. I had to ask for a carrier bag to put the food and wait for a long time before they even gave me a carrier bag. I had told them that the food I ordered was what I was paying for myself which I paid in advance. I also told them I would order another food with my work colleagues when they all showed up for the after-work dinner paid for, by work. When my colleagues showed up, I was on the same table I reserved for myself and my colleagues. They came there and took the order for food and drinks from everyone except me. I had to call them back to take my order which they did with attitude. I had to ask for straw, silverware,etc, before they gave me. I was literally itemising everything I wanted them to bring before they brought it and frowning. I don’t know what that was about. Were they struggling to understand simple instructions or they just wanted to be nasty? I do not understand how they are able to keep their jobs if they can’t process simple instructions. On top of that, while the dinner was ongoing, one of them screamed and everyone got quiet without knowing what the scream was about. If only zero stars were an option. Manager working Friday 8/9 refused to provide her name, lied numerous times before suddenly being able to do what was asked of her in less than 2 or 3 min, refused to put into writing acknowledgment of food returned to restaurant- food she identified as being severely over cooked, refused to call owner when she would not assist customer, laughed at customer bc apparently it's funny to her that they serve food so burnt it can't be chewed. Worst experience ever! I'm not sure I've ever had bad Mexican food much less steak so overcooked it can't been cut much less chewed, cheese dip so burnt there are black pieces of char throughout, chips bagged so long ago the bags have holes in them they are so saturated with grease, and cheese fries with lots of extra unidentifiable ingredients. Refused to reimburse customer who initially requested only the steak be refunded but decided to return all of the food bc the manager was so horrific. If the manager won't share their name, you certainly can't trust the food.

Your options for any food, not just Mexican, are very limited in this rural area. With that in mind, I would have to say that Antigua's has to be one of the best restaurants in town. To be honest, it is one of my favorite Mexican places period. For some reason the Magnolia one is usually better than the El Dorado location. The food is almost always fresh tasting and cooked well. The service is usually good though there have been a few pretty bad times. The salsa is awesome. I could eat it daily..
