(the blonde lady “owner” is sneaky. This is exactly what happened) negative — 5 stars 🤮
I live in fox lake, and it is well over an hour drive to get here. Second time I come, thinking the experience was going to be the same I was way off. A blonde lady stating that she was the owner, took my order and I could tell from the start something was a bit off. I’m ordering specific menu items and you could tell her mind was elsewhere. They forgot the bacon on the merkts bacon cheddar burger, added pickles; it wasn’t the right burger at all! I brought it to her attention and she sat there for five minutes arguing with someone on whether it came on the sandwich. They gave me bacon in aluminum foil , I put it on myself. I take a bite into the burger and I taste pickles. I looked them up on Google, see a picture of the menu, and saw that pickles are definitely not part of the bacon merkts cheddar burger. So I called them. I explain to the lady what happened, she became flippant, and gaslit me, saying that relish does not come on the burger. I repeated, I didn’t say relish, I said pickles. Back-and-forth with her talking to her cook or something, and I said I’m done, got my money back, gave my food back, terrible experience, big hassle. Bummer, I had just had In-N-Out Burger about two weeks ago and was looking forward to comparing. In-N-Out Burger definitely wins across-the-board. Very disappointed in what happened here today, extraordinarily poor customer service, and just about everything else a restaurant can deliver. 0 stars
I’m also disabled and had to walk up to that stand 4 different times. Shame on you people. You could have dealt with this much better
And to you blonde lady. Take accountability for your actions. Don’t belt across the restaurant saying that I’m looking for a free burger. You screwed up and had zero accountability. You need to take accountability for your actions. That one cook had your back because you’re the owner. But if that’s the way you run your business; it does not...
Read moreThe food was good, the parking was bad. That's the short version of this review if you only want to read 2 lines. This business has little parking and the parking available is very tight and hard to pull into. I have a pickup and had to basically make my own spot. Nevertheless I had heard good things about the food so I wanted to try it out. I did not know that there was no indoor dining or even a warm waiting area. When I walked up to the area to order I did see that initially there had been a set up for that. At some point they changed it, likely during covid etc. So we ordered, then waited in the freezing cold for the food. I will say that they had a buzzer so you were able to wait in your car if you wanted. I ordered 1 of their special burgers, the 3 layer fries, and an oreo milk shake. The food is basically what you would expect from a sonic like burger establishment. The burger was nice, plenty juicy and filled with flavor. The fries were OK. The milkshake was middle of the road. The food was good enough that I would order there again. However, not unless it was a whole lot warmer. There was no where to dine so I had to either eat in my truck or find a place to take it to eat. That's fine for a pick up order. If I'm on a lunch break or something and I want to sit somewhere I think I'd be better off going to a business that at least has a small area for that. The cashier seemed indifferent when we were ordering. Not necessarily rude though. I got the feeling that this business was an in town favorite kind of place, and the attitude of some of the staff reflected that. I'm not from in town and I also wasn't that impressed. Good food, but not sit and freeze for 10...
Read moreAs soon as you pull into their lot you can tell this place has been around for decades. It is sandwiched in between two auto repair shops. Paradise Pup has six picnic tables set up next to the building and along the street. Across the street is a forest preserve (nature preserve); there is a picnic area down on Touhy about two miles away. The parking has 20 spots the neighboring body shop has signs on reserved parking for body shop customers only. We were there after 2 pm on a hot Saturday afternoon, there was a small line to order and plenty of availableparking. They are know for the Bacon Merkts Cheddar Burger (Merkts is a spreadable cheddar cheese spread from Wisconsin. It is available in Chicagoland supermarkets if you want to re-create the burger ar home). As the name suggests Paradise Pup has hot dogs, but also Polish, Italian Beef, Italian Sausage, and a fish sandwich. We both went with the obligatory Merkts Cheddar Burgers and it did not disappoint; the juicy beef patty is on a bakery bun with grilled or raw onions (your choice), Applewood Bacon, ketchup, mayo, lettuce and tomato. It is a big meal and you can split it and still feel full. We also got an order of beer battered onion rings (enough for two), my friend felt there was too much batter; but I thought it was just right, crunchy and savory. All the food is packaged as "to-go" and in a brown paper bag. The burgers and fountain drinks are in Styrofoam (not a fan of that). Definitely worth a trip back to try other menu options or another cheddar burger (it was really good). There is no indoor seating and you order and pick up...
