I discovered Moxi on instagram while scouting new scouting locations for my photography. The charming exterior and bright, well-decorated interior immediately drew me in. Once I learned their mission of promoting independence and awareness of those with disabilities I knew this place was for me! On the morning of my shoot the staff were very accommodating and informative not to mention patient with me as my client and I busied about having our camera time. The baked goods looked picture-perfect and the coffee was so good that I downed mine with gusto after a tentative taste. The art and hand-made goods for sale and the beautiful landscaping made this charming place all the more wonderful. Where else have you been where a bicycle hangs from the ceiling and a bike pump supports one corner of the sink. Such is the bathroom on the left as you walk down the hall. This place features and supports local artists. We attended a folk performance by a local musician staged on part of the outside grounds. There is a wraparound porch complete with rocking chairs.
The only knock is this place is roughly 20 miles from my house. It's attractive enough to make me wish I lived in Maize. Seriously, if you are looking for a quiet, comfortable weekend...

Yesterday I had the red berry loose leaf tea and a bierock. But their scones are also delicious! MOXI = Mothers Of eXceptional Individuals.
