Best family owned restaurant in my opinion. During our recent visit to Shirin Cafe in Manalapan, NJ, we were, once again, thoroughly impressed by the exceptional dining experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a memorable fresh homemade meal.

The menu offers a diverse selection of dishes, each prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients. We particularly enjoyed the Eggplant Pate, a delightful blend of sautéed vegetables and spices, and the Uzbek Plov, an authentic pilaf featuring yellow rice, tender lamb, and carrots. The flavors were rich and satisfying, showcasing the culinary expertise of the kitchen.

Frank is amazing. Very attentive and friendly, making us feel like part of the family. His knowledge of the menu and willingness to offer recommendations enhanced our dining experience.

For dessert, the home made Kartoshka was a standout providing a sweet conclusion to our meal.

We were curious to try this meal and I am so glad we came. This was one of those meals where on the first bite you start wondering when you can come back. Everything we ordered was a 10/10. We ordered the chicken Tabaka which was basically the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. It’s crispy and flavorful but still light. It also comes with a refreshing salsa-like dip which was phenomenal. We also got the Pavlov, which is Uzbek fried rice with lamb. I don’t typically like lamb and I inhaled this. My husband said it was one of the best fried rices he’s ever had (high praise from a Filipino!). We also got the dumplings (FYI expect a 40 minute wait for these, we got them at the end of the meal instead of it being an appetizer, but was well worth the wait). My family and I have been coming here for many many years and love the place. The food is delicious and the portions are perfect for the price. Literally have tried soonest everything here and we have been pleased with everything. Never a bad experience and always a pleasure to fine back. The owner is super sweet and the service is good. This is our go to place for many yearly celebrations in our family. The food is a mix of Russian and Uzbek and there are plenty of options to choose from.
