Nonna’s is our favorite restaurant in Whiting, and we’ve been coming here for years. We have come here for family birthdays, we love the food, and we are in utter shock over the experience we had tonight.
A message to the owner’s daughter: If you have a problem with a customer coughing, tell them & ask them to leave. Or be subtle and polite like a sane human.
Don’t start a screaming match across the restaurant with a loyal customer while they are eating & while other patrons are in the restaurant.
Don’t call the customer “nasty” from across the room because they are coughing due to pollen allergies.
Don’t tell the customer that your mother “owns the place”, & “we don’t want your money.”
I am struggling to find an explanation for this behavior. Either the owner’s daughter needs anger management classes or she’s antisemetic or both.
She was also incredibly rude to her aunt in front of the entire place (she told us it was her aunt), instructing her to “box it up,” taking our money out of her aunt’s hand, and shoving it at us.
In addition to being confused, shocked, and offended, I am sad because I really have loved this restaurant. I am the daughter of a family restaurant; my parents have had a restaurant for 35 years, and yes I started working there as a child also. This is a cautionary tale for me, because as my parents are trying to retire, I know this kind of behavior can RUIN a business and a legacy that was built on their blood sweat and tears.
Up until tonight, we’d had nothing but wonderful experiences with everyone here. I’ve never had anything this insane happen to me, and I feel certain there will be a crazy response left here that justifies...
Read moreI called up and ordered two slices of pizza to pick up a few minutes later Bella called me back having me confused with someone else who ordered. I corrected them and told them that I would be able to pick up my slices of pizza. Bella, the owner‘s daughter who is on a severe power trip always reprimanding and being condescending to the employees was yelling at everyone behind the counter including the delivery man when I walked in to get my pizza. She then turned around at and pointed at me and started screaming at me that I need to slow down when I speak because she couldn’t keep up with me on the phone. When it was them who messed up their orders in the first place and called me and interrupted me plus, I don’t know this girl from a can of paint to be speaking to me this way. I was so taken back by her rude condescending attitude and afraid of my own reaction that I was speechless. I just stood there and watched her be so tyrannical to the employees and myself. It was a completely unprofessional and not a way to treat a patron. She then purposely left my box of pizza on the counter and didn’t hand it to me while she just stood there and I had to wait for the kid who took my order to get off the phone to give it to me when she was looking right at it. So I really do not know what her problem is, however while their food is good for where it is being sold with the lack of options nearby, after this experience I will not be...
Read moreI called for a delivery. Yes it was 5:15 on a Friday. Pizza places are busy. I get it. The phone rang 3 or 4 times, and was answered with “Nonna’s please hold” and I heard the phone get put on a counter or something. 1 minute goes by. I’m thinking to myself, wow they’re pretty busy. Good for them! After two minutes of being on hold, I hear another phone ring, and it gets answered with, “Nonna’s...pick up or delivery?” And he proceeded to take the other callers order. Next, at about 2 minutes and 30 seconds on hold, someone picks up the phone I’m holding on and hangs up. Seriously? There is absolutely no excuse for that. Let me tell you something Nonna’s, I was going to put a $50 order in, not to mention the future business of mine you would have had, which is now non existent. You have every opportunity to impress a customer, but you only get one to disappoint them. When people are wanting to spend their hard earned money at a restaurant, SERVICE is the reason they are willing to pay so much for it. Nonna’s totally treated me like a person who’s business they weren’t interested in. Every customer should be treated with the same priority. Hire someone to just answer the phones if you have to, on weekends when it’s busy. Judging by your prices and lack of customer service, you...
