Firstly, I always give credit where credit is due. I've never had a bad meal at Las Fajitas. Even their chips and salsa surpasses the other Mexican restaurants in the surrounding areas. And their fajitas are amazing.
So for something different this year, I decided to have my daughter's 7th birthday party here, in their party room, last Saturday April 6th @2pm.
I expected between 20-30 people and had told them this the few weeks beforehand when I made reservations. I even called the day before the party to confirm .
My parents arrived before me, and they had 2 waters, one basket of chips, and one bowl of salsa .I thought maybe the establishment was waiting to bring more waters, chips and salsa as they saw my guests arrive . I was very wrong.
My friends, family, and children for the party all start showing up and there is literally nothing for them to drink, munch on, or even look at since there were no menus.
I'm a nice person. Damnit, I'm really nice, and I'm patient. I wait for a server.....and wait....it's well past 2pm now and there is no lunch rush. Finally, being the birthday girl's mother and my guests looking a little lost, I go out into the restaurant and tell one of the servers that guests are in the party room and we need waters and menus .
And we wait. And wait. And wait some more and I'm peeved because I'd been so busy prepping cake, favors and finally made it to my kiddo's party and I should be enjoying myself but instead I'm embarrassed because all my guests had been waiting for provisions and were hungry and wanted to eat.
She brings waters. Like 5 of them. No menus.
I go tell another server we need more waters, and menus, and some people were just ready to order. This was literally a disaster .
When a server finally comes to take orders she is barely speaking above a whisper. I don't know if she was new but if so shame on Las Fajitas to send her to the party room to break her in.
Super long story short, food came and it was fine as always. But nothing was cleared from the tables, it was like they were annoyed with our group even though everyone had been so patient with them and their terrible service. We had to eventually hunt someone down for to-go boxes.
I served cake and ice cream, brought my own plasticware and paper plates, and not one employee came in to clear any of the restaurant dishes. So we stacked them for them.
Not kidding. We stacked plates and gathered silverware, my fiance grabbed a plastic bin from the front of the restaurant so we could put dirty napkins and plastic cups in there. I used a large gift bag to put all the party trash in.
Las Fajitas didn't do anything to help make the day better. They couldn't even manage to sing the Happy Birthday song to my kid, with a sombrero on her head, you know the stuff most kids love when they celebrate a birthday at a Mexican restaurant.
Seems to me, the restaurant should've had a few pitchers of water with salsa and chips already on tables as guests arrive, especially since I confirmed, twice, how many people would be there.
That being said, I'll be back for a lunch because I genuinely love their food. But I do not suggest having a party in their party room. It was nothing but stressful since they basically forgot about us...
Read moreI stopped in here last week for a late lunch. The reviews were positive, and there were cars in the lot during late afternoon, which I figured was a good sign.
Unfortunately my experience was not consistent with many other reviewers.
The tortilla chips were stale and cold. The salsa was almost flavorless. The food was no different when it arrived; flavorless. The meat was bland and did not appear to have been seasoned at all. With the dim lighting it was hard to tell, but the ground beef appeared to be slightly undercooked and still somewhat pink. The rice was dry and also flavorless. I did not eat most of what I ordered. My server never refilled my drink and I waited way too long for my check considering there were two servers on shift and only 4 seated tables including me.
My server never asked if my food was ok, which when your customer has finished less than half their plate should be a very clear sign something is wrong. When I paid at the front counter I was asked how my experience was; I replied that it didn't meet my expectations. The gentleman at the register just smiled and nodded and said "good, good!" What? He clearly wasn't even listening to me.
This was literally the most unsatisfying meal I've had at a Mexican restaurant in middle Tennessee. I am honestly confused by all the positive reviews, because judging by my experience they are not even vaguely accurate. I would never waste my time or money here again.
If you're driving I24 there are much better options in Murfreesboro or Monteagle/Sewanee and it's worth holding out until one of those exits if...
Read moreBoy, oh boy, do i have a treat for those hungry travelers trying to get a bite of some good Mexican food. This is not your place. However, if you crave dried up, unseasoned chicken thrown together with some rice and queso, this IS your place. It started with zero shade on the uncovered deck. We opened the umbrella to hopefully get some shade and realized that if you don't have mechanic skills to reassemble the umbrella, you better just eat inside. We ordered a shrimp chimichanga and a shredded chicken taco salad. The waitress laughed as she sat the plate down and said I hope that's a shrimp chimichanga as she could see the burnt shreds of chicken sticking out of the side. We were so hungry that we dove in anyway. The shredded chicken taco salad had zero seasoning. It was a dried up shredded piece of chicken with a little queso, very little lettuce and tomatoes. The waitress didn't check on us until we were 3/4 of the way through our meal and half-heartedly asked if we wanted to wait on the correct shrimp chimichaga. Whatever. The only way this place is surviving is because of the dedicated locals in the bar section, 100%. The interior is dirty and outdated. The food is horrendous. I have included a great photo of the bathroom aesthetic for your...
