Went there this past Saturday evening with a group of 7.

Called about an hour before we were all meeting there and they arranged us a spacious table and accommodated our group with hardly any notice given. Nice job, all.

My wife ordered a large salad. I ordered their famous frog legs. We shared the hot wings (appetizer). The hot wings were crispy on the outside and delicious with just the right amount of spice/heat. My wife enjoyed her large salad.

The frog legs were quite good and honestly the best I've had since eating fresh frog legs my dad and I gigged out of the family pond in the Ozarks when I was a kid.

Many reviews of this restaurant reference their frog legs and say they're fantastic... I can say that I 100% agree. The only other place I know you can even get frog legs is the Chinese buffet on Manchester ("Hibachi")- they're smaller, not fresh and not anywhere near as good. To summarize- if you're a fan of frog legs... try 'em. You won't be disappointed.

I ordered two extra dirty Gin martinis, they were of course made perfect, bartender nailed it. My wife ordered a mixed drink which was a coffee beverage mixed with alcohol- she enjoyed it and the red wine she switched to after that. My in-laws ordered a bottle of white wine (they're wine connoisseurs) and enjoyed it, as well.

Interior was fun. Lots of vintage fishing gear, right on down to a full-sized canoe mounted on the wall. Definitely fits the menu.

Staff was courteous, friendly and patient. Our server was friendly, polite, got our orders right and was very attentive to our group's needs.

Overall, a very positive experience with great food, good service and a fun, relaxed atmosphere. You can't beat it with a stick.

We will...

Ate at Lazy River Grill tonight. The Ribeye Steak Sandwich was great! Kudos to the kitchen! But that was overshadowed with the poor service of the waitress and the GM. The waitress was not attentive to refilling our drinks or checking on us or knowing options for selection. When I questioned a surprise upcharge. She mumbled and then went to get the manager who listened but didn't respond and turned and walked away. FINALLY the GM came over and processed to argue with me. I said I had ordered this item exactly like this in the past without the upcharge so why now. She said that never happened and that I was wrong. When I explained the waitress was ill-trained, she just said she was new and made no offer to provide better training. I also shared my displeasure of no notice that there is a card surcharge. Her excuse was they had a flood and were closed for 16 days. What did that have to do with the lack of communication? Then she told me all the restaurants she goes to have this surcharge. I listed 3 restaurants that do not and she dismissed my comments So she finally took my gift card and returned the remainder for the waitress to process but the waitress TOTALLY IGNORED US. I had to get up and go back to the GM to pay. I was ready to walk out. This is totally a GM/manager issue who is unable to properly train her staff and unable to address a customer concerns without excuses. I loved the food but you have to also be able to provide an acceptable level of basic customer service which the GM failed at miserably tonight if you want me...

Pleasantly surprised that a nondescript storefront in a generic strip mall would be home to a quality seafood restaurant. We were there around 5:45 on a Monday night and the restaurant was about half full. Upon entering, we were greeted warmly and promptly seated, with all the kids' needs immediately addressed (clearly well-trained in working with families). The interior decor transported us to something akin to a wilderness lodge, a complete surprise given the location and setting. The server was helpful and directed us to some of her favorites/specials. We ordered the crab cake appetizer, shore dinner (house specialty with basa), and walleye festival (Sunday/Monday special). The crab cakes were East coast style with large chunks of crab meat without unnecessary fillers such as breading. Great sign to start the meal. The walleye was lightly breaded, seasoned and fried. The fish is inherently more steak-like in texture versus flaky, a nice contrast to the basa. Both the missus and I thought the basa was the star of the meal, perfectly seasoned and cooked, with a tender, flaky inside, and thin crispy layer on the outside. Everything was so good, we were shocked by the location. Fresh, straightforward, but well cooked seafood at reasonable prices. We'll be back to try the...

Not very impressive looking from the outside in the strip mall, but turned out to have an outstanding rustic atmosphere inside, with lots of fishing photos and memorabilia. A fun looking place to eat that didn't disappoint on food taste! I had the "Shore Dinner" which featured something called "Basa fish". The waitress we had didn't know much about the Basa, when I asked her where the fish was from, and explained that I always asked where fish is from because I much preferred US farm raised catfish, to catfish imported from Vietnam. She said it was just some sort of whitefish. I got it anyway and thought it was quite delicious so I was glad that I had tried it, despite Google describing Basa Fish as catfish native to Vietnam. :) I also liked the grilled corn side that came with it, but was underwhelmed by the apple sauce side that came pre-packaged in a plastic tub.

Arrived for a late lunch and I sat at the bar. I asked the waitress what their best lunch item was and she recommended the walleyed platter. It was delicious. I received a large slice of fish. The waitress said they make their own breading and cook it fresh daily and the walleye was delicious. The walleye platter comes with two sides. I chose the green beans with potatoes and onions. I was looking for fresh fruit for my other side but the only fruit they had was applesauce so I chose the fries. The green beans were fresh and cooked just rice and seasoned well. The fries were a mixture of hot fresh fries and mildly warm fries. My waitress gave me excellent service. The inside of this restaurant reminded me of a hunting cabin and an older small town diner. Food was delicious.

We were recommended The Lazy River Grill by a local resident. So glad we were. I ordered Walleye with chicken gumbo as a substituted side. My wife ordered the Basa platter and my mom ordered the grilled chicken breast. They use their own batter blend for the breading on the fish which tasted great. The chicken was so tender I was able to cut it with my fork. My kids loved the chicken strips and the scoop of ice cream you get with each kids meal.
