Oh my goodness!!! One of the greatest things about small towns in Tennessee are the meat and 3 places to eat! Comfort food at its finest! The Mercantile Cafe in Manchester is NO EXCEPTION!!! Its located in the square on a corner and it's open seating allows singles, couples, small and large groups all easy seating options. We went there on a Sunday afternoon and there was a line but that just tells me the food must be good! We waited for maybe 20-30 minutes as they were very busy but it was well worth the effort! Menu items were entree and 3 sides but you can add more if you like. Free coffee with order of desert! I had the meatloaf, green beans and mashed potatoes with brown gravy. Chicken gravy was available as the other entree was chicken and stuffing. We had our choice of jalapeno or regular cornbread or yeast roll. Everything was EXCELLENT! The potatoes were some of the best I've ever had. I could have just eaten the whole pan of that it was so good. The food is served cafeteria style and you tell the staff behind the line what you want. Many choices and a salad bar is available. Prices were what we expected (less than 10.00 each w/drink) and portions were more than enough. Everyone there was extremely friendly and one of the owners comes around to everyone and treats you like family. Extremely nice experience!! Looking forward to going...

First time walking in here and had such a pleasant, fun and welcoming experience. It's giving home away from home. Truly feels like a family owned restaurant! My friends and I were on the road to Winchester, Tennessee and discovered this restaurant along our route. Although we the only colored people in the restaurant, they went around their way to help us feel welcomed and included. It is a cafeteria style restaurant with homemade specialties to blow your mind's taste buds. Had their Habanero Sticky Chicken and it was bomb! Just the right amount of spice and their chicken comes boneless and dipped in their delicious homemade Habanero Sauce. Make sure to get your free dessert by joining their text messaging group through a QR code provided on the table. I left with a whole coconut pie to take home for the group. At the end of our lunch, we enjoyed looking through their fun little trinkets they had for sale which were perfect...

Food is okay if you are wanting veggies. Need to change up menu & add more of a variety. Desserts are too expensive & not all that great, rather tasteless. Look better then they taste. Owner lady is super nice & accommodating. Turned off this week by how rudely an employee (some older blonde lady) spoke to a younger woman employee in front of customers. Was completely hateful & inconsiderate. If I'm there to pick up lunch I don't want to hear hateful comments towards another employee. Stressful to hear that tone being used towards a young worker who probably needs to be working. People wonder why they can't keep help?? Treat people with respect and don't humiliate them in front of customers. When they act as if they are doing me a favor to wait on me I don't feel the need to give them my business. Food is mediocre at best, but a pleasant attitude goes a long way. Sweet, vibrant owner needs to put some of the older...

My women’s motorcycle group stopped into The Merchantile Cafe for lunch and absolutely loved it. I had reached out to Renee ahead of time to reserve space for our crew. Our numbers dropped due to the rainy weather, but they were so accommodating. I had a small portion of the chicken and waffles plus the fruit tea - delicious! Some others had the meat & 3 selection of the day which was met with rave reviews. The real star of the show was dessert. Banana Pudding was to die for and the carrot cake (not pictured) was criminally good. Highly recommend stopping by The Merchantile Cafe if you’re in the area. I’ll definitely be back soon to try some cookies & ice cream!

Word of mouth led us here! And are we glad!!! We've recently moved to Manchester and want to support local businesses! This Cafe is amazing! We wandered in, nearing the end of their lunch hours. But we got to eat anyway! The cafeteria style food was hot and cooked to perfection... We had tender and juicy roast beef and gravy and Southern style fried chicken! The sides were great, too...mashed potatoes, macroni and tomatoes, creamed corn, and broccoli salad - all delicious! The staff was really nice and the decor is clean and fun! Loved the gift shop!!! Best of all, we took a chess pie with us. Highly recommend this pie! We'll be back!

Live an hour away and heard about this place. Was in town at the state park and got a chance to go here for lunch. The mercantile cafe was amazing and as good as people say. It’s a little like a hometown version of a Cracker Barrel - if cracker barrel was not a corporate chain. Food was very good and hot and fresh. I ordered a chicken sandwich and fries. See the photo- it was twice the size of the bun and juicy and delicious. I was really happy and impressed. Service was good and I feel like they are in business to feed people good food and they do a great job! I will make a trip here again - well worth it. 😁
