Probably the neatest and most unique coffee shop in the area with some of the greatest coffee around! The problem that we’ve experienced at Classic Rock Coffee has been bad service. The staff has been very rude and off putting when we’ve visited. The first time we came, we ordered a pour over coffee. The barista asked if we would take an americano instead because they’re basically the same thing. We told her that we would really like a pour over, and so she let us order that. The man preparing the drink was clearly annoyed by us an said that “he hates making these drinks and would rather watch paint dry”. We got our drinks (which were very good) and didn’t think much more of it. This morning we visited again for drinks and some quick breakfast. We had another slightly annoying expirience. The young girl working the register was very kind and helpful, and we placed our order. We again ordered a pour over coffe, and the man making the drinks quickly told us that they no longer make pour over coffees. The girl working the register seemed confused by this, and so did we. Why have something listed on the menu if you’re not going to offer it? We told her that that’s too bad because we really love the pour over coffee here. We settled for other drinks, ate our breakfast, and left. I don’t think we...
Read moreNot impressed with this place, but it may partly be that it is just not my style. While I do enjoy classic rock, the noise and decor of the place was something I found unenjoyable in the morning. It felt like a bar, which I would have enjoyed more if ordering a beer in the evening. However, it seems like other people may be more suited to it, OR maybe I should have come at a different time of day.
Mostly, I just didn't think the service was great. We ordered two coffees, one cinnamon roll and a cup of oatmeal. They handed me a dry cup of oatmeal, and I couldn't find a hot water tap anywhere so I asked them for hot water for the oatmeal. The cashier looked at me like I was crazy, but filled it with water. They forgot the cinnamon roll, and when we asked for it about 15 minutes later they gave us a cold one, which was okay, but would have been better if it weren't rock hard and cold. It all seemed odd because they weren't very busy. However, the place did appear to be clean and kept up well.
Overall, it was just okay. Maybe they were low on staff? Maybe one of them was in training? We did end up with our food and coffee, but there are places we've enjoyed much more. As for the atmosphere, it seems there are people who quite enjoy it. This place just wasn't...
Read moreDefinitely a great addition to Mandan. Even though the atmosphere and some of the memorabilia is not to my liking, I have generally had positive experiences each time I have gone here.
The blended drinks are very good. The hot drinks I have had have been inconsistent a couple of times (not as sweet as usual), but are usually very good. I enjoyed the drip coffee as well as I sat and did homework. The booths are very large and yet private, which is nice for working/business/spreading things out (if you are trying to concentrate, you may want some earbuds to block out the rock music though).
My wife and I tried a breakfast sandwich recently and that was excellent. Overall, I really like the place - has a lot of perks when compared to other coffee shops in Bismarck/Mandan and is not the typical chain coffee stop.
The staff, although sometimes young, has been very friendly - I have always been treated well here.
Check it out - you may...
