Oh my, what a fun place to have some delicious food, a variety of drinks, a great Lakeshore view and you can bring your pup as a bonus! I’m talking about Barley Oak on Lakeshore Drive in Mandeville Louisiana. As my pictures and video below will show, you are front and center of the lakefront, and have a variety of choices in drink and dining selections and also where you’d like to sit! I had the redfish tacos, my friends had the shrimp tacos, and we all shared the sausage and cheese appetizer, which was absolutely amazing. You have got to get the gator sausage for sure. It being pet friendly, you can have your pup leashed inside or outside and the people water drinking station. there are water bowls for the pups as well. Where have you ever seen that! There’s also lively conversation, gathering of friends and family and don’t forget about a stroll across the street along the Lakeshore, a beautiful time all around. There is free parking conveniently streetside or Lakeside as well. The Barley Oak will not disappoint on any level.

Barley Oak is a restaurant located on the North Shore. The beer selection was plentiful but didn’t have many local crafts brews. The food is decent, but my experience was mixed. I ordered the Reuben, which did not cover the bread halfway-covered with meat, and the potato salad was just alright. Unfortunately, the floors and bar felt dirty and sticky, could’ve been the humidity from outdoors as it was a very warm afternoon. The bathroom was also far from clean, with a sticky floor that made walking unpleasant . The dining experience was passable, with bartenders who were okay but not particularly attentive. The conversation from two girls centered on their age and relationships. Overall, it's not a place I'd revisit. Despite the historic charm, the cleanliness and dining experience left much to be desired. We may give it another try in cooler months

It has a real nice German Beer Garden Vibe and the placement right off the lake is perfect. The actual bar is on the second level not the first. You place your order at the bar and the buzzer they give you lets you know when to pick up the order. You can sit in the main bar, outside balcony or the 1st level. The 1st level and main bar have massive TVs to watch sports. They have a great on tap selection and the menu is basically bar food. What we ordered was great and I really need to try some of the beer, but I was just too full. The pretzel was perfect and the beer cheese was the best Ive had in a while. Its great spot that we'll be sure to hit up again. --Its also looks to be a pet friendly spot, but your pets are limited to the balcony and 1st floor outdoor areas so keep that in mind

Was asked to leave by a blonde girl in braids working behind the bar when bringing my 7 month old baby in to meet my dad and brother in law after walking on the Lakefront. My 7 month old and I WEREN'T stopping for a drink, just meeting our family to tell them we were ready to go. The girl proceeded to tell me NO ONE under the age of 21 is allowed. Oh, really?? Because my baby doesn't drink beer and neither do I...it makes you fat. My daughter and I politely took the elevator back downstairs immediately to the bottom porch where NO ONE was sitting so I could feed her a bottle (of Milk---yeah, once again, clearly she doesn't drink beer). A male bartender then came out of the elevator and told us we had to leave to which I responded, "I need to feed my baby. We clearly aren't drinking. We're waiting for our family members upstairs." Rude, rude, rude! Anyone under the age of 5 shouldn't be included in the "No one under 21 is allowed on the premises." Unless these people give their own children beer, it's common sense that we aren't going to belly up to the bar with our 7 month old baby. Will NEVER go back there or their "sister bar/restaurant" that apparently IS "family friendly" and was recommended to us by the same girl with the braids who "kicked us out." No thanks! Skip it! Why would we want to give either of your bars any money after that? The Barley Oak needs to chill with the rules a little bit. You clearly DON'T have children OR you allow them to drink alcohol at the early age of 7 months. Ridiculous. If you have children, don't bother. Unless they have their fake i.d....

A beer-lover's paradise! 50 great beers on tap, pub food, and a lively atmosphere make for a good time out with friends or family.

The only local place open late AND serving food, this place is packed Saturday night at 10pm - and it can be a little loud. Outside tables offer a quieter choice, though at the whim if the weather and your own service.

Staff is friendly and the beer selection outstanding. Many local craft brews as well as national and international offerings.

SHAME on you if you order Coors Light here!

Not much has changed here over the past 5 years that I have noticed. Use Untapped or the QR code at the bar to get an accurate list of beers available.

Best time to go is the off-hours - unless you enjoy boisterous crowds, loud talk, and having to fight for a seat. Weekdays before people get off of work are the best if you like the ability to talk to your...
