Date of Incident: December 6, 2024
I had an incredibly disappointing and unsettling experience at this establishment that has left me questioning its approach to customer service and security. Upon arriving, my party and I were met with unwarranted hostility from a security staff member—a man with a long beard—who took it upon himself to antagonize us before we even set foot inside.
The issue arose because we had been sitting in our car for a brief period of time—approximately 15 minutes—finishing a phone call. This seemingly innocuous action inexplicably drew suspicion, prompting the security guard to confront us and subject us to additional questioning at the entrance. The insinuation that we didn’t belong or were somehow out of place was both offensive and deeply unsettling.
This encounter felt not only disrespectful but entirely unprovoked. I understand the role of security is to maintain order and ensure safety, but this experience crossed a line into unwarranted scrutiny that left me feeling uncomfortable, unsafe, and ultimately unwelcome.
What should have been a routine evening out turned into a disheartening ordeal, and I have no desire to return to an establishment where my presence is met with such undue suspicion. While I appreciate any positive experiences I may have had here in the past, this incident has made it clear there will be no...
Read moreIt's Saturday at 1am, the place is blastin some rockin music, and the neon signs are chill to look at; but it feels kinda dead. This place still feels very hidden to me, like it's out there, but there could be more people. I've seen plain bars filled to the brim at 1am but I suppose that's because they're well known and convenient for drinks and hanging. The Sign Bar is f#$%!&@ beautiful at night, it's definitely missing somethings; but you could probably say that about any place out there. Personally I think this place is great for drinks with the crew, or chill if you're just looking to drink and share some stories; but that's all! It appears to try and appeal to all kinds of people, but it's got some blind spots. Some outdoor games or Arcade machines would be greatly appreciated, we have 1 pool table so that's dope. The maze out in the back is awesome, but it was very plain, some statues or interesting poster prints at the dead ends would definitely add some extra flair. Not sure yet of what goes on other nights here, but I like the place so far, it's cool, chill and very creative. I give it a 4.5 out of 5 stars, it would be hard to hate but it's missing some entertainment factors for sure. Check it out yall! If you truly love Austin, you'll...
Read moreLet’s start with their sign. It’s called Sign Bar yet, they have a flimsy white flag with its name off the road. We passed it because it was our first time there and the sign was not easily visible. Maybe have a sign outside so that your patrons can see it from a distance. Bartenders were all nice and friendly! It was great to see waitresses walking around taking orders and picking up empty glasses. Because of the Texas heat perhaps add more fans and water points. There was only one water point outside. Maybe one more on the opposite side of it. Almost everyone in our table purchased food from both food trucks. No one was impressed. Food from the Italian American food truck was ok. The salad was exceptionally disappointing for the price. My sandwich was visually good but fell short when eating it. People from my table complained the food from the other food truck was too greasy and too expensive for what they received. The signs of course were nostalgic to see. It took me back to my childhood and all discussed stories of having been to restaurants and other establishments that are now closed in Austin. I don’t know if I’ll go back… maybe if someone is visiting from...
