Was driving to UConn when I noticed this new sign in Mansfield Center. I decided to stop and try the new doughnut shop in town. Parking was very easy and the entrance is in the bottom floor of the building. I entered the front and needed to take stairs, there is parking higher up for easier access. There are fresh made mini cake doughnuts. There were many different toppings to try. The doughnuts are pricier, but they are fresh made and have specialty toppings, so compared to other designer doughnuts these are on par. There were other people in line in front of me, but I was greeted warmly when I entered. There is a window to watch the doughnuts being made. There are options for coffee and soda as well as the doughnuts. They have local Hosmer Mountain Soda. There are some tables to sit at and visit or eat inside. The service was good, the doughnuts took a few minutes to make. The drinks would come out rather quickly. Everyone working seemed in good spirits. They were mostly young people working when I went. I purchased "Dad's Dough it Yourself" so I could try some different flavors. I received a dozen doughnuts and for toppings: 3 glazes, Chocolate, Regular, and Strawberry. I also received 4 different sprinkles. All were in individual sauce containers. I used a knife at home to decorate, if you are ordering this, just ask for a plastic knife to use. The doughnuts were very good and light, they were well cooked. The chocolate glaze was very rich and tasty. The regular glaze was very good. The pink glaze didn't have a strong strawberry flavor. But it was good with the sprinkles. I think next time I will order specific doughnuts, it was fun to decorate them myself this time though. I think these are great for little kids or sharing with people if you don't want huge doughnuts. The 4 stars is because I didn't love the flavor of the strawberry topping on its own. Otherwise it was a very good experience. I'm excited to come back with my nephew.

I heard a lot about these adorable doughnuts, so I finally stopped by today. I saw a negative review about the size being too small and the price, but I thought the opposite. That's what they're known for those mini donuts and they are adorable and delicious. The price I thought was really good. If you go to Dunkin' Donuts a normal sized donut that is mass produced and sitting all day are over $2 a donut. I bought a six-pack of variety and it was under $10. They were freshly made and had such a nice crisp outside with a soft delicious middle. The staff were wonderful. Actually one of the girls came running out after me with a maple bacon donut she made for me for free, because she overheard me saying to my friend that I wish I had ordered one in my pack to try. You don't see that in customer service very often when people go above and beyond. This week I'll definitely be coming back and trying the coffee as well this time. It was nice to see parents with their little kids come in while I was eating and just enjoying a small business in our community. I highly recommend

Pros: - New and local business - The branding is on point - The establishment itself seems very clean - The service is very quick - The owner seems very nice and attentive to his business - The texture of the doughnuts are quite pleasing. Cons: - The actual doughnuts are much smaller than you think they are. They are closer to doughnut holes in size - Given the size of the doughnuts, the price is way more than what I would have thought. I understood going in that this is a new small business that claims to use fresh and high quality ingredients, but even then I was surprised at the prices - I was disappointed with the taste of the doughnuts themselves. Considering they are so small and the customer is paying a premium, I expected something better. Unfortunately, I felt that each doughnut tastes pretty similarly (very very sweet) and I couldn’t taste much of a difference in the flavors (although, once again, I did find they have a good texture) Overall, Many people seem to enjoy this place, but in my opinion, I don’t think the product backs up the steep price.

Totally love this place. The donuts are really good. They're smaller than a typical Dunkin donut (but not too expensive!) which means you can have a couple different flavors. I really like the Strawberry Shortcake and Piña Colada flavors!

The service is very good and the staff are so nice and friendly. So long as it's not a holiday, it's very quick especially considering the donuts are made fresh. I went with my dad and we got a half dozen donuts and some coffees for the family, and I decided I wanted to bring home one extra donut of the flavor I'd just had to my mom. They were like "glad you like it, we'll give you one for free!" I think it's a really nice small business that's doing a lot to build goodwill in the community. The first time we came, the owner introduced himself and told us a bit about his business, how they use all these local ingredients and stuff too.

One thing I do wish they had was a nice big roadside sign. We've been twice and driven past both times—had to turn around to get there. This time, when we turned around after missing the turn, the pickup in front of us did the same thing and BOTH of us pulled into Dad's Doughs. The building looks very much like the other houses on the side of the road, and I think it's very easy to miss...
