Before I give you a full review on this place, I just want to say I almost never leave a review. There have been a couple of times when I wanted to write a review but after a few days, I just got lazy and moved on. I almost moved on place but something just triggered me to spend time writing this review. Please read this carefully and reconsider your choice. I sincerely believe this place should go out of business.
On december 25th, 2024, I visited this restaurant based on availabilty and the review rating. The place was crowded with tourists as many restaurants were closed due to holidays. I was alone and didn't want to take up a whole table so I decided to place a to-go order. The owner or the owner's wife was taking orders. There were two Indian gentle men before me. When they ordered, I overheard there's going to be a long wait for the food, which is understandable. When my turn was up, I asked roughly how long should I wait. Her answer was she doesn't know and it could be anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 hours. I thought it doesn't make sense but there weren't many choices and thought other places mihgt be in similar situation so I just ordered hoping that it doesn't take 2 hours. I ordered two different dishes. As time went by, I was tired and hungry. To save sometime, I decided to get some drinks somewhere else so I told the owner that I will be back. She demanded a payment first so I paid. I even tipped 15% as it's Christmas. When I came back the orderes for the two Indian gentlemen came out and they were making the payment. It turned out the they didn't pay any 'TIP'. The owner started yelling at them for not paying her tips. She said she had never seen anyone not tipping in a restaurant and they must tip her because she was working. I instantly regreted tipping her but what can I do... After a while, my order came out, it took about an hour I think. She checked the food in front of me and I got out. Then I realized there's no forks or spoons. I walked back and asked for one. She put two sets of plastic bagged disposable utensils on the counter, looked in my eyes, and went "$1 each." I thought she was joking so I asked. She was like "NO, I'm serious." I went that's ridiculous if I don't get utensils how would I eat it?." THEN, she pulled up the entire box of utensils and said "THIS AIN'T FREE." I felt my blood flowing backwards and went "I'm not getting this food for free either." Then she gave up and I just picked up one of the utensils and left. I think this is really bad business. All the people dining in were eating with disposable utensils. I wonder she charged them for those utensils. Now, what triggered me to start writing this review? I was cleaning and found this receipt on my countertop. I almost threw it way immediately then I saw this charge 'To go container x2'. She already charged me for the containers then tried to charge me for the utensils. Oh on top of that there's 3% credit card fee which she never mentioned.
I think the owner is too greedy. She said she's working on Christmas because she hates Santa Clous. No no no. you work on Christmas because you know there will be more customers and so that you can make more money.
Based on how she talked to other white folks was different from how she talked to me and the Indian gentlemen, it makes me wonder if this would happen to a white person. If you have, please share your review here.
I'm not in a position to judge the food as I don't know much about authentic Mexican food but to my taste, it was just mediocre. Enchiladas was just flooded with oil and I don't even remember how the quesadilla tasted. One thing I want to point out is that I was starving but both dishes didn't taste good. Usually when I'm hungry anything tastes x10 better.
Let me ask you this. If she cares about 50 cents for a $29.90 meal what other...
Read moreThis place was highly recommended by a few people in town however, after visiting this restaurant, we won’t be coming back and I would not recommend it to others. As soon as we walked in, we waited to be seated. There was a waitress and the lady that owns the restaurant walking around waiting on other customers. They saw us walk in and looked us up and down and after a few minutes, the owner walked up to us and asked how many people , it was my daughter and my husband and I. She proceeded to take us to a table which was right beside the kitchen and the very busy area where The workers would be coming in and out of. I expressed that I did not want to sit there because of that and she immediately got an attitude she walked us over to another table nearby, which was very small. I asked if we could sit at another table that was a lot longer, but she told me no that was for bigger larger parties. This is a small town and they’re not many people that would be coming in with larger parties, so she did not let us sit there. After she sat us down at the table that I did not want and she walked away. No one came to ask us for our order or for drinks while we waited. I was really bothered by the attitude that the owner had and thought to myself what horrible customer service we sat there for a while and no one came up to get us drinks so after talking with my husband and my daughter, we decided to leave You’re in the restaurant business, which is not only a place that you tend to others, but your attitude and the way you represent yourself is very important. This lady was extremely rude and ruined my whole afternoon just with her attitude so if you like rude customer service and people that get an attitude when you asked to move to another table, be my guest, but we won’t...

Tivo's Place was recommended to us by the staff at Big Bend Station, and we were not disappointed! Prompt service, cozy atmosphere, delicious food. We went three times in the four days we were there - once for dinner and twice for breakfast. Small menu, but that just means what they do offer is SO GOOD! No pics, because we were so hungry and it all smelled incredible!
My son had a beef quesadilla that was delicious - perfectly seasoned and cooked beef in a just-crispy-enough tortilla. I had the mole chicken enchiladas, which was served as a stacked dish instead with corn tortillas, excellent mole sauce, and just the right amount of seasoned rice and refried beans. Even the chips and salsa they brought us were incredible - obviously in-house made tortilla chips and a smoky, pleasantly smoky and spicy salsa.
For breakfast, my son just had French toast and pancakes, but he said both were really good. I went with Huevos Rancheros, and it was excellent. Again, with the perfect tortilla chips, smoky spicy ranchero sauce, and perfectly cooked over medium eggs. Served with potatoes and refried beans. The only thing I left on my plate were some of the tortilla chips, because I was stuffed!
TiVo's is not open Fridays and Saturdays and no pork or alcohol is served or allowed, all for religious reasons. Do not let that stop you - you'll be missing out if you...
