We went here on Saturday 3/22 for brunch. It was a very unwelcoming and disappointing experience that I won't do again. We arrived around 12pm, the place was pretty packed inside but the line wasn't long. There was a sign that said to grab a paper menu before getting in line, which we did but it didn't have brunch info so I figured I could ask the lady at the register (she made it obvious she doesn't like being asked questions). The lady at the register (green hoodie, brown hair with highlights, messy up-bun and glasses- I wish I had gotten her name) had 0 customer service skills and was immediately very unwelcoming and passive aggressive. I asked if they had breakfast food, she turned around and pointed up at the wall menu (no words), I asked about kid drinks and she turned around and pointed at the wall menu (no words). I said ok, I've never been here before, and it wasn't listed in the paper menu. That's why I'm asking. I tried to order a half-caff or defcaf UBE latte and banana latte that they've been advertising on social media. She told me no. She said they're cold brew and only come one way. She was adamant they were cold brew. I was confused because the menu and the advertisement clearly said latte but she insisted it'd cold brew, so I said ok and ordered. I stepped aside and checked online, which clearly said latte with espresso shot. I waited back in line to talk with another lady who confirmed it's a latte and that they can do both decaf and half-caff but said they had already made the drink. They seemed annoyed to remake it but didn't it anyway and then gave me burnt espresso. We spent $70 for rude service and an unwelcoming environment. The tables were also filthy and we cleaned it oursleves. At that point, we just wanted to be done so we could leave. The breakfast pizza from the food truck was pretty good and was the online positive part of...
Read moreAh, I've long wanted to travel way up North for the pilgrimage journey to Omni Brewing. I know I've been here once before, but a long time ago.
I was on a mission: Why? I wanted to talk to the wonderful Omni staff about the timing of the opening of the 2nd Omni tasting room and winery in Rosemount. They didn't know the timing, but I did drive down there to the new site and saw construction happening. Hopefully by the time the snow flies, I won't have to drive all the way North to enjoy Omni beers!
The building here is old - the brewery has been here a long time now. It has the character of the old Surly taproom, before they built their "destination brewery" near the U of MN. The ceilings here are low, and the smell of malts and hops is strong. There's a large patio, and no problem with dogs on the patio.
Of course, I had to start drinking with an Omni FAD (Freakin' Awesome Delicious) beer. It's their "flagship", and deservedly so. It's a mid-hopped IPA, with 40 IBU. A classic! I then moved on to the Daily Dose, a coffee cream ale. Light and refreshing with a nice hit of coffee.
The tables are wonderfully crafted of large pieces of wood, and the brewing equipment is close enough to my seat to reach over and touch the tanks. Old school taproom, which I absolutely love.
Parking is on the street, and again, the taproom is old school - small and comfortable. I can't wait for the 2nd taproom opening in Rosemount. Hopefully soon! ...
Read moreIt was a drive for me, but I was told amazing things about this place, and trust me when I say it lived up to the hype! Coffee flights are some of my favorite things, so when my group saw they had them, we had to of course check them out. I will say one thing that set their flights apart was that YOU get to choose your 4 flavors. Ps. My favorite was the Red Velvet cupcake. Seriously, yum! Staff was friendly,
I was fan girling over their LGBTQ+ inclusiveness! Yes, community! I see you!
Overall, the merch, the variety of food and drinks were ABSOLUTELY everything one would have raved and / or written home about. So so good. Definitely would recommend.
One tiny suggestion, if I may, if at all possible, reconfigure the table or seating by the bathrooms. The walking area is not large enough for multiple people to be in that space. Example: you have a group of people putting their dishes and such in the tubs trying to be good humans and clean up after themselves and others with food and drinks walking through and trying to get by etc all at the same time. It causes a cluster effect, and it's just not a fun time.
Also, we happened to be there when another individual was there and they were in a wheelchair. That person and their caregiver did pretty good at maneuvering around, but had it been a bigger chair, it absolutely would have...
