My five star review is still detailed below, but as of July 2018, I am revising my review from five stars down to two. Why? Several reasons:
The last time my husband and I visited, the martini glasses were visibly smaller than they had been for the last couple of years that they'd been serving martinis. I'm talking probably half the size they used to be. The price was still the same - $10.00 each, which was an okay deal when they used the large glasses.
The two times we visited before that, I ordered the same sandwich - the BLTT. The first time I ordered it, there were a couple of bites of my sandwich that tasted extremely hot (not temperature hot, chili hot). I told our server and he let me know that it could have been cross contamination since one of the cooks had been working with jalapenos at the same time. This didn't bother me so much, since I love jalapenos and love hot food. I think the server did offer to make me a new sandwich, which I refused, but I would have hoped that feedback would have been taken to heart in the kitchen area.
The second time I ordered the BLTT (which was more recently), there was a definite taste of fish and I couldn't help but wonder if it was due again to cross contamination, this time with a piece of salmon (the only fish item on the menu). At that point, my husband and I had decided we were going to stick with drinks only at Ristrettos....until now.
I'm sad to say, because the atmosphere is really great, but I don't think we'll be back unless some things change for the better.
Five star review:
Their martinis are delish, and they have several new food items. Customer service seems to have improved also. They were super busy a couple Thursday nights ago, but staff were friendly. Food was coming out of the kitchen at a good pace considering there wasn't an empty table in the place. Cozy and welcoming, I will definitely be...
Read moreRistrettos is our go-to spot when we are in the area, but today had us mourning our last visit. Got there after lunch and every table was dirty, even though there was plenty of staff available to clean tables. We had three different staff members visit our table and neither of them offered to clean it.
We were helped right away, the coffee was wonderful as usual (only reason I give 3 stars), but the food was surprisingly awful. My daughter's sandwich was coated in powdered sugar (never had been this way in the past.) My usual turkey spinach wrap was so tart, I was looking for lemon slices or something in there that made it almost unable to eat.
This time, we were charged an unexplained service fee. That was the nail in the coffin for them for us. There was no warnings or advisement of this fee, and it was an odd amount ($0.86 on a $22 bill.) I never got a good reason what this service fee is for....is it because I used a credit card? Is it a way the owners are passing along the cost of $15/hr wages? It would be really easy to print the reason why the fee is charged on a receipt, or on top of a menu. I don't like feeling like I am being gouged, and especially when the overpriced food is no longer edible. It seems like something bigger might be going on here....the meals weren't as good of a deal as a few months ago when we visited, the chips are different and not as many are being included with the meal, sandwiches are being made with ingredients that aren't listed on the menu description (which is just plain dangerous), and a large sign behind the bar announced new Spring specials even though it is the...
