Really great food, plenty of menu selections, reasonable prices, very short wait for food on a Sat nite at 6 pm. However....in the 30 or so minutes I was there, I was the only person eating in. I'm in my 60's. Another elderly couple came in and wanted to be seated, telling the waitress it was their 1st time ( as well as mine). Many, many customers came and went, ordering take-out or picking up an order. Very popular place, so why virtually empty? Here's why...it is located right across the street from a big senior community and everyone who came in while I was there was at least 60 and older. The semi-loud music playing over the system was 93.7 KRQ's top pop (hip hop & boom boom basically). The only breaks being advertisers and annoying DJs who talked too fast to be understood . I love almost all music genres. I'm an old head banger who grew up on rock and learned to love country, jazz, R&B, classical, etc. There are so many great streaming options out there, so why do so many restaurants rely on commercial-laden pop radio? I mean c'mon....look at who your customers are! Dang! It's a Chinese restaurant! Play some lovely Chinese music. The ambience here is equivalent to standing next to a Circle-K gas pump. All that said, the food here is really, really awesome, so from now on I'll do what everyone else in this community does....order ahead, pick it...
Read moreI ordered 3 dinner specials for take-out Wed. June 26th, the order totaled $26.15 before taxes & I was charged $38. Not sure what tax percentage they are using, especially since I didnât receive an itemized receipt only got a credit card copy. Sweet & sour shrimp: the shrimp were over breaded to make them look much larger than they were & they werenât cooked properly leaving them gummy. The other âcomponentsâ were old dried-out carrot slices & a container of the thinnest/watered-down sweet & sour sauce I have ever tasted. Hunan beef: fatty slices of beef, so chewy I had to spit them out. Barely any broccoli or âpremiumâ veggies. All onion, not spicy at all. Everything was brown on brown on brown. Over cooked and not good. Sesame chicken: was OK chicken was over cooked & dry Hot & sour soup: fair flavor, way too thick. No tofu, no mushrooms, just soup & bean sprouts. It seems they are cutting corners with less & inferior ingredients. I will not be...
Read moreAfter a couple very hard days of moving to a new area, my daughter and I were starving. She pulled up a Chinese restaurant on her phone and we gave it a try. Boy were we pleasantly surprised! We ordered takeout from the Fortune Cookie. An order of vegetable lo mein, sesame chicken, crab puffs, and egg rolls. The restaurant is small and unassuming. What it lacks in atmosphere is delivered in great Chinese takeout! Our order was delivered quickly and it was hot! Every food item was tasty and delicious! The one thing that my daughter kept repeating to me was, "It's not greasy!" We have eaten plenty of Chinese food and sorry to say that a lot of it is, although good, is greasy. This Chinese food was not! My daughter would not have kept repeating that to me if it was not true, and she was right! We both believe we have found a "hidden gem" in a sea of Chinese food restaurants! Thank you Fortune Cookie for a great meal! We...
