Have been wanting to stop in here and decided my birthday was the day to go. They weren't busy, but seating was a little slow and there was no greeter at the door. They have me a great little spot, and once seated, I took a good look around. It is LOADED with all things nautical! I came in for the AYCE shrimp, so I didn't need time to peruse the menu. They're training some new people, so there was, again, some wait time, but with a view of the river, unless you've got somewhere to be... what's the big deal? Kayla (trainer) and Hannah were professional and personable. I don't drink much at all due to migraines, but I did want a celebratory beverage, so I asked what kind of vodka the had. I have to be so careful but Kayla was a gem educating me about Valentines. I do very little gluten, so I'd tried Tito, but I still got a headache. I can usually tell from the first sip, and low and behold, the only thing I got from the #incredible3olivedirtymartini was a very nice buzzzzzđ. Did I mention the olive choices were jalapeño, Bleu cheese and salmon? Of course, I had one of each. I'm not a big potato person, but I went w/ their homemade chips. They were perfect crunch/texture/browning but a tad too salty for my taste. Still would recommend. The shrimp were, in fact, jumbo. I'm not big on breading (Gluten), but, if it's crispy, we are going to eat our limit. And it was. The shrimp itself was firm, no mushiness. Pass on the cocktail sauce. I prefer lemon. The coleslaw was very robust. Coleslaw is usualy just a side. This slaw has personality! A good amount of dill (always good, not a given). I'm going to give that a try at home. Thank you. I was able to roam around and get some shots. What a fun place. Gr8 view from the upstairs! The upper area would make a gr8 place for a shower or get together, I would think. I don't know if they do that. There's also a sit down bar area where you can just enjoy a beverage or food of choice. All in all, #MCFC capped off a gr8 birthday. Thanks to the crew! Kudos to the chef. NB: The young man who was so diligently keeping the tables in order could help man the door. I almost left...I thought it was odd no one seated me for a good 5 min after I walked in. He's a go-getter- and i told him so! That's good to see. #FuturesSoBrightđ #MarineCityFishCompany

Whenever my wife and I return to Michigan, we make a trek up to Marine City for dinner at the Marine City Fish Market. Aschewing the drive up US 95, we prefer the scenic route along the St. Claire River, passing wetlands along one side of the road and lighthouses and the river on the other. It's a cute little town, always worthy of a walk along its main street before or after a meal. The restaurant has grown considerably since we first began coming here, now featuring upstairs seating, offering views of the freighter traffic on the river as well as the eclectic fishing decor downstairs. It now features outdoor seating in more temperate weather. We always try to get a window seat to watch the freighters traveling on the river as we dine. The menu features primarily fish and seafood, but does provide meat and chicken selections, and an adequate beverage selection. There are now "All You Can Eat" options Tuesday through Thursday. We usually choose walleye or perch, which can be ordered fried or sauteed, as well as their smoked fish dip. Service is provided by young local kids, and is always prompt and cheerful. The accompanying soup was delicious as usual, and the fish did not disappoint. However, the dip was a bit runny on this visit, rather than its usual thicker presentation. Because it's made in site, perhaps today's rendering was simply an aberration. At least, I hope so. The dessert menu features cheesecake and a delightful cobbler whose fruit flavor varies on the season. Today we passed on dessert in favor of the old time candy store and voluminous popcorn shop down the block. Once again, a trip well worth taking!

Fun, kitschy nautical decor. Seems like there should be area to purchase souvenirs. Cute touristy feel. Especially while waiting to be seated. Their policy of having to wait until every last member of your reservation party has arrived to be seated seems a bit extreme. Especially for larger parties where only one person isn't there yet. The investment in the remodel for a smaller community area restaurant is nice. The wait area is still awkward, tight, not comfortable when having to wait. Which almost is inevitable. It looks like they do a great business despite that fact. Ceiling fans might help the build up of heat in the waiting area. Or cushions on the benches in the seating area also. Walking in there were quite a few empty tables? Seemed odd with so many people waiting. Music doesn't seem appropriate for a nautical/ fish restaurant. Seems it should be steel drum/Island type music to set the theme. Food was so-so. The Italian fisherman dinner calamari were very tough. The waitress offered a new plate of it, not sure if she offered a different dish. We had waited previously to be seated and were into our meal so that just requires more time. Would work better to offer part of that meal to be comped? Or maybe a dessert? That wasn't the case. The staff is young and very friendly. But somewhat forgetful. Brought dessert but no napkins & never checked back. The hand cut fries are more like shoestring, lukewarm, overdone, fries. With all that said still was a nice experience overall.

Marine City is a nice place for a little getaway on Sunday afternoon... After sunbathing at the beach or spending time at the waterfront park while watching freighters you will probably get hungry. The perfect solution for it will be a meal at the Marine City Fish Company. What you have to be aware of is that it will be best to make a reservation a couple days ahead. We tried to call the day of visit, a few hours before, and the place was already fully booked. We took a chance and went there anyway. After being advised on 55 minute wait (and were ready to leave,) we came up with the idea of sitting at the bar, were two empty seats. While walking to the bar, we noticed that there are very many available tables everywhere and the restaurant is half empty. Not sure what was causing this, maybe lack of employees? The food was good except mashed potatoes that were nicely served but had watery texture and powdery taste. If you really like mashed potatoes get a different side. At the restaurant like this I would appreciate real mashed potatoes rather than instant ones. Overall, we enjoyed the day. The restaurant is nice, big, the bartender was excellent, and we were surrounded by life music. Will go back if mashed potatoes improve...:-)

Prime location for good seafood with beautiful views of the Saint Clair River and the freighters going by! We absolutely loved looking around to take in the nautical ambiance with so much unique fish decor. I wouldnât have guessed our server was new if she hadnât told us! She super kind and friendly and gave great recommendations from the menu! The H2O cocktail is delicious, with a nice fruity flavor! The scallops were absolutely delicious and the calamari was nice and crispy! The bing cherry puff pastry dessert was a perfect ending to a great meal!
