Had BBQ here a few months ago and it was fine if you added enough sauce. We decided to try it again tonight and won't give them my money a third time. 1st time the pretzel was large and suspended from a metal hanger which is gimmicky but at least tasted good. Today we got 3 frozen pretzel sticks that were cut in half for some reason. The spinach artichoke dip was disgusting- there was an inch thick glob of greasy mozzarella on top of a "dip" that was so thick it broke the chips and couldn't be scooped. Our pizza tasted exactly like the one from the cafeteria at the college I went to 15 years ago and came with one less plate than we had people eating with us. We told the waitress she could take the uneaten $11 spinach dip because it wasn't edible and she didn't didn't seem surprised or even bother to ask why. She never asked if we wanted a refill on drinks that were empty before food came out. The guy who I assume was the front end manager walked by our table no less than 10 times and never bothered to ask how our food was. Bad service, bad food, renovated golden corral atmosphere

I have only been to this restaurant/bar once in my life while passing through town, but if I were in town again I definitely wouldn’t mind stopping by again. It was early in the day so not a lot of foot traffic but just enough to keep the staff busy. This is a fun atmosphere, large bar section for those who aren’t looking for tables, but they have a lot of tables for their larger parties. It start to get busy near the end of our stay and you can see they get a lot of repeat customers. Our bartender/ server was very helpful and a delight to talk to because she did interact with us, shared some laughs, as well as some recommendations when it came to their large menu of beers and food. She talked us into flights and we were not disappointed and also thoroughly enjoyed the flavors of each one. I have noticed the menu does change so at least there will be something every now and again that you can try so don’t be afraid to. There’s a ton of parking here so you need not worry, just bring yourself or guests and kick back.

With 2 locations in Michigan,Block Brewing offers over 30 different beers as well as various food options. We went to the Howell location on a Saturday afternoon. It was not too crowded so we were seated immediately. Service is very good. Started with a flight of some of their craft beers. Decent pours for 10.00. Food selections include small plates, salads, sandwiches, pizza and larger plates with an emphasis on smoked BBQ. We shared the Pick Three BBQ plate with baby back ribs, beef brisket and smoked turkey. Came with 2 sides and a cornbread muffin. Portiond were smaller than I'm used to and the smoked turkey could have been sliced thicker as it was pretty dry. The brisket had good smoked flavor but also dry. The ribs were very good. They have 4 different sauces on the table for you to try. Their House Sauce was the best in my opinion. For good beer and OK BBQ ,try Block Brewing either in Howell or Brighton.

We recently traveled from Tennessee to Michigan to visit family and friends. During a day trip out sightseeing, we were looking for a place to get a bite to eat to start the day.

We saw Block Brewing as we were driving through Howell and thought it looked like an optimal place to stop.

We arrived 10 minutes after they opened, so our party of six was easily able to get a table right away.

Since it was our first time there, our waitress was helpful and patient with us as we browsed both the drink and food menu.

My wife ordered their Tangerine Wheat beer and absolutely loved it. She liked it so much that she inquired about buying it in a six-pack to take with us. Unfortunately, they didn't have that beer available on the day we visited. We did end up buying some beer to take with us, though, including the Guava Vanilla Gose, which actually has a picture of Gozer from Ghostbusters on the can.

As for the food, everything we had was fantastic.

Do yourself a favor and get the Pepper-Jack Crab Soup. It is amazing. My wife and I ended up sharing their chicken tenders for our actual meal. They were excellent. I used the sweet BBQ sauce, one of the four different sauces available on the table, to dip my fries and tenders in. That stuff is spot on.

Our friends both ordered a burger. I now regret not getting one because when they came out, they looked and smelled amazing.

Even my son, who is a picky eater, ate all of his Soft Pretzel sticks.

Most of the items on the menu are pricy, so if you plan to go, keep that in mind. That's not a knock on Block Brewing because the quality of food you get definitely reflects the price.

Again, we arrived right when they opened, so it was a laid-back atmosphere. However, given the size of the place, it could get a little louder as the day progresses.

An excellent experience for us and a place...

DISAPPOINTMENT! After enjoying this establishment for several years, I feel that something must be said. Over the past several months, it would appear that the kitchen staff has lost all sense of pride in their work. It started several months ago when we went for dinner and my daughter ordered a Cesar salad with chicken. The dish that we received was a bowl of rusty lettuce, little dressing, and a few pieces of chicken placed in the bottom of the bowl. I asked the manager how is it that this dish was allowed to reach a customers table without being noticed, nobody had an answer, and no consideration was offered. Even after the replacement salad was delivered to the table 15 minutes after everyone had completed their meals.

Last night we went there for a special dinner, I ordered a cheeseburger, cooked medium with raw onions. Once again, I returned the lettuce because it was rusty. Further to this, my burger was cook rare. I politely sent it back to be prepared the way I had ordered it (medium). Since the restaurant was not very busy, I could not understand why it was taking so long to cook me another burger. I finally approached my waitress and asked her to cancel my order. This must have upset her because the manager approached my table to get an understanding of the situation, not that I wanted to explain it again. Anyhow, the manager was sorry and regretted the issue. I explained to him that I had no issue with the wait staff, she was wonderful, but the kitchen is the major issue. I could have understood if the place was packed and people were running around, but this was not the case. I am sad to say, that with all of the different dinning venues popping up in the area I would be concerned for Block Brewing’s continued success. Again, great beer, wonderful staff, and kitchen staff needs to address...

I ate dinner at the Brighton location last night with my Fiance in hope that this would be the place that we would host our rehearsal dinner. I'm definitely glad we came to try it out because it was overall the worst meal and service i've ever had eating out. First, when the waitress came to our table, I told her I had Celiac and could not ingest gluten at all, which she said no problem at all. I went on to order a cider which I have always had at other restaurants and as I was putting the drink up to my mouth, I noticed that it had a different smell to it. Turns out when my fiance tasted it to double check, it was actually a beer instead. I could have gotten horribly sick and when I told the waitress what she served me, all she said was oh no, sorry. No sympathy what so ever. She did comp my cider, but almost contaminating a person that has Celiac is the absolute worst thing someone could ever do. Then, going onto dinner, I thought that ordering their pulled pork would be a good option but I was very wrong. It was so watery and lacked a lot of flavor so I hardly ate any of it. I told the server my concerns and she just said oh okay, i'll tell the chef. Honestly, she really could use some training in how to properly take care of your guests. I was a server for 5 years and being in the customer service industry, I get mistakes happen and food isn't always perfect, but this experience was by far one that I will not forget. For these reasons, I will not be hosting my rehearsal dinner here or recommending this...
