I can't say enough good things about this place! The chili rellenos were absolutely massive — easily the biggest I've ever been served — and packed with flavor. You can truly taste the authenticity in every bite. The seasoning, the texture, the freshness — everything was spot on. Not only was the food delicious, but the portion sizes are incredible for the price. It’s rare to find such great value paired with such genuine, homemade taste. If you're craving real Mexican food that fills you up and satisfies your soul, this is the spot. Highly recommended!

This place was great food was absolutely spectacular I had to carne asada tacos and the hot sauce was incredible and I got a pina colada it was the biggest one I've ever seen in my life they might as well handed me a bathtub full of Pina Colada mix LOL the server spectacular I waited 5 minutes from my food that's it I would come back here again and again in fact I took six tacos with me to go because they were so delicious I'll never go to another Mexican place again if it's not El capitas thanks guys for making my night incredible and my belly full

We were driving back from Charlotte to Detroit and found this random Mexican spot. It looks deceiving outside as it's not well lit and in almost a random spot. But once we got in, things were different. Everyone was very friendly, we had an awesome server who checked on all the tables and handled everything well. We ordered 3 veggie things, the fajita veggies, fajita nachos, and quesdilla. It only came out to $24! The food was amazing, the quesdillas was the cheapest but tasted the best. A bit greasey but the flavors were on point!

This Mexican restaurant is not a very classy place. I believe it use to be a old Hardee's restaurant a long time ago. Trust me you can still tell. I'm not downing the restaurant, because of the lackadaisical remodeling into a Mexican restaurant. Everyone deserves a far chance of success. Regardless of their budget for remodeling or lack there of. It is to me an average Mom and Pop style restaurant that serves authentic Mexican food. As for average, the food was also average. It was not bad, but it was not spectacular either. There was a consistent chemical taste amongst the three dishes that I could not determine what it could had been. Perhaps it could had been their cooking spray, or oil. For it to be in all three dishes. It was very evident after opening the take home boxes. Either way. It was o.k. but I will not...

Update: 4/25/24 - I LOVE El Capataz! The chips & queso is always on point, the taco salad is sooooo good & the chimichangas are amaze-balls 😍. Between El Capataz & Dunkin Donuts, if I lived closer I would stay broke 😂.

Update: 3.6.23 - dined in, got to eat on the patio since it was so nice out. I love this place! Best Mexican restaurant! The owner is super nice & has some great employees

I haven't been here before, but a friend & I got take out... I'll definitely be back! Loved the chips & queso! The taco salad was so yummy, too! The prices are very reasonable which makes it even better. I can't wait to go back and try something else!

I can say that this is easily the best Mexican restaurant in the Charleston area with amazing staff it seems. The owner(?) at the front desk had a good conversation with me about the amazing flavors of the jarritos drinks and recommended some good ones. I had the steak chimichanga and it had good quality meat it was like 9 dollars for 2 burritos, beans, rice, and a salad.
