A D&A Story
In my favorite little diner today, the D&A Cafe in Martinsville, Va, I noticed a guy waiting for a table. This happens a lot at this popular little place at lunch rush and Iāve been stuck waiting before myself. I know how inconvenient it is when you only have a half and hour for lunch.
I signaled him to come join me if he wanted and he was appreciative and thanked me for offering on the way to a table just cleared off for him. I guess the only possibly unusual thing about it was that this older gentleman was black and I look a lot like General Lee š
Truth is I could give two hoots in hell what color a person is and, if I can help, Iām going to help. The fellow thanked me again as he was on his way out and I didnāt think anything of it until I got to the cash register and the proprietor told me that āthat other fellow you offered a seat to paid your bill for you.ā
Now, If that doesnāt make you feel good, I donāt know...

The food quality and wait time are the drawbacks. We waited 20 minutes for bacon and egg plates. The taste of the bacon made it obvious it had been cooked earlier in the week and reheated. And the only potato option, tater tots, came out cold.
It's always frustrating to me when one has to wait for cold or room temperature food. š„¶
Maybe the lunch fare is better or possibly other breakfast options? The place is busy so our experience could have...

The food was really good, and a very fair price especially for the amount of food. Eggs our way, bacon/sausage, hash browns, bisciuts and gravy, coffee.
Kathy was our server, she was very nice and accommodating. Marvin is really neat too.
If you want some down to earth home-made type food, in a friendly atmosphere, this is the place to go.
Bring cash though, they are not set up for credit or...
