Famous Subs & More — Restaurant in Martinsville

At one time I ate here quite often but then I moved on the other side of town. I have been searching for wings everywhere at a decent price and then I remembered Famous Subs. Money is usually tight so I'm always hunting for bargain. And it seems like everywhere you go now everything seems to be overpriced. My initial reaction to their menu prices was almost ecstatic, however I have found that more often than not lately the online menus that I see are usually from a time before the great inflation. That's a bummer. Thomas surprise when I arrived I paid $18.25 for a grilled chicken salad and an order of wings. Definitely the first perk.

Moving on to portions again I was surprised. When I opened the containers and saw how huge these wings were I felt like I had died and gone to heaven and then I opened my salad and could hardly see any lettuce or other vegetables because it was piled so high with grilled chicken.

And then of course there's the deliciousness and quality of the food that has to be addressed. The food's always good I've never had any issues. I've added some pictures but I totally meant to do the photo shoot before I started eating. But I was starving. So the photo shows what's left of my salad when I remembered to take pictures however I assure you that I ate every bite.

Customer service I guess should be next I surely do hate going somewhere and they ring all the bells and fall flat on this one. Service was with a smile is always wonderful but you don't get that everywhere. That is definitely not the case here. The staff is extremely hospitable and very pleasant to deal with.

And then of course there are extra perks. They have a wonderful beer selection if you choose to dine in. For such a small establishment they really have something going on here that's appealing, it's nice. And they've been here for quite some time so that alone should tell you something. Definitely would recommend....

I stopped here needing a quick meal and just wanted anything better than fast food style, when I entered the place was a little aged looking and empty (afternoon) but was immediately greeted by the incredibly friendly owner/manager and the rest of the staff was polite as well. I took my time looking over the selections and they didn't rush me, I even asked for advice because I didn't know if I wanted a sub and they said they whisk something up for me. It was a delicious philly cheese steak, and more than I could eat, at prices you probably couldn't get at a chaine like Jersey Mike's. Also the menu was so unique I couldn't help but want to come back because it includes various cuisines including Greek and others, with a South American man behind the counter. Really unique place! Oh there is almost NO wait. I like to just pull up, walk in and let them fix it up for me because you don't even need...

I called an placed an order around 8:45 pm to pick up at 9:30 PM. The website says they close at 10pm. I got there to pick up my order on the way to work and they were closed. Pitch Black, no sign of life. I called today to speak the manager and they were like I'm sorry, we had to give your order away - most people call and are here in 15 minutes. He also said, I didn't want to pay $30 to have people hanging around for you to lick up your order. They should change their policy and say they don't take pre-orders and I'd they are slow they close early. Will never order from them again. They need to just stay closed.
