Shun Xing Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Martinsville

Recently stopped by Shun Xing. Stayed for about 1 hour and had 2 different dishes. I thought the food was excellent. However the staff were a little eccentric and maybe weird. What happened was they asked me several times, actually practically begged me to write a short letter for them in english since their written english was subpar. I didn't want to do it but I decided to try for them. I walked a little behind the counter where they had the pen and paper sitting and then the lady exclaimed loudly please go out from behind the counter! quickly! I asked her why, you told me to write this letter and put the paper here. She said sorry and asked for me to step out from behind the counter and write it in-front of the counter. I was annoyed but did it. I wrote what they had on their cell phone screen word-for-word and it wasn't short either as they initially said. When I got done they looked at it a few times and then crumpled it up and threw it away. I was mad about that. I asked them what were they doing? The lady said sorry but she was not sure they could use it. Then why did they ask me to write it??? I left the restaurant very annoyed by this. I took time out to help you like that and you just throw the letter away. They also gave me a whatever attitude about it like it wasn't important. Sure seemed important when you asked me 15 times and begged me to write it. Someone else in the restaurant told me they often ask for help writing english that they begged them before too. He told me if they ask for help just ignore them because they never use anything people write for them. I want to know whats the point in asking if your not going to...

Love this place!! Food is cooked to order; They don't rush you to hurry up and order. One thing I would change is that they won't let you modify your order. I had ordered the Egg Foo Young(Roast Pork) I've had this dish from the West Coast and Northwest and Eastern seaboard many times, I've never had it with so many peas, So, I asked if they could leave out the peas or less 🫛, "We can't do that" She said, which let's me know that their meal's are pre-prepared. Needless to say, I won't be ordering their Egg Foo Young Roast Pork anymore. But, One thing I can't go without is their Steamed Dumplings. These things are a special treat to the taste buds, even the sauce is amazing with these. And, Never forget about the Chicken wings 🥰👌....

This was probably the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. I ordered sweet and sour chicken. The meat dish had no vegetables as shown in their picture display. The chicken was just chicken nuggets pretty much. The fried rice was just white rice covered in soy sauce. The packets of plum sauce were old, they tasted like play dough. Never experienced a place that was handing out expired discolored packets of condiments....
