DO NOT ORDER INDIAN FOOD HERE ANYMORE. I had to take down my previous 5 star review. They have gotten a new chef and I kid you not- WORST FOOD I HAVE EVER BEEN SERVED. We ordered $130.00 of all of our previous favorites from here.. Vindaloo, Korma, Saag, and Tikka Masala.. these dishes USED TO BE the best in the state. Now? Just look at the photos I posted. Every single dish had a 1-2 inch layer of oil floating on top. Every single dish was watered down and no thicker than a beer. Not to mention, ZERO FLAVOR. And if you love Indian food, you know this is just ALL kinds of wrong. Even if you have dull, bored taste buds this food would not be good. Zero seasoning and sauces that look and taste like colored water. Im heartbroken. I used to cherish this establishment, recommended them to every single person I know, would order from them for special occasions and our monthly office luncheons. No more. Even worse? Each dish came with 2 or 3 small chunks of chicken floating around lonely in their bland colored water sauce. The vegetable korma? literally watered down bright yellow bland "sauce" with a handful of generic frozen vegetables thrown in (think school lunch mixed veggies.. diced carrots, stiff green beans, and corn.. yes, im serious).. The Saag? Frozen spinach and water, blended together, with an inch of bright red oil floating on top with 3 small square chunks of chicken- No flavor, no spices, NO CREAMY ANYTHING.. just awful. The Saag was probably the worst, but we also ordered their "famous" creamy lintel dish (which can come mixed with cream or butter and should be very thick and robust) and we opened it and it was so freaking watery it splashed everywhere when taking the top off. Even worse still (!) there were maybe 2 tablespoons of lintels in the whole dish. We just started laughing and playing a game trying to fish them out of the giant bowl of brown water they gave us. LET ME SAY THIS: This place used to be true gem. A bright spot in an ugly part of town that felt like a hidden treasure. I never ordered less than $100 of food at a time because I could put it in my fridge and eat for days and it would just keep getting better. I have no idea why would they get rid of their previous chef, but if I knew where he went I would drive to the ends of the earth to eat his food. It was magic. What they are doing now is a JOKE. YOU WILL NOT ENJOY YOUR MEAL IF YOU ORDER THE INDIAN DISHES. Its not even kind of good. Its awful. Sloppy, bland, watery, and drowning in thick layers of oil. You've been warned!
*also, i called them immediately to see what was going on and inquire why they would even let that mess leave their restaurant and they really didnt seem to care at all. She brushed me off to doordash to get a refund, no apology, no offer to make it right, to cook it again. We all pitched in to order lunch for our monthly luncheon and noone even got to eat. She didnt care. Not one bit. That was the definite nail in the coffin and motivation for this review. I am just thoroughly disappointed because I truly loved this place. BRING BACK THE OLD INDIAN CHEF and I will let bygones be bygones.. until then? They will never get any of our business again and i truly hope this review will stop others from wasting their money like we did. (See photos and video below if you dont...
Read moreI used to order Indian food and pizza twice a week totaling anywhere near 100-150$ a week for my hotel located near a-one (not including the orders from the guests staying at our hotel). I want to start of by saying the food used to be AMAZING. But months after covid began the food is now horrible. They used to have amazing Indian food and the chef quit that made indian food and it’s been horrible since then. The delivery time takes forever most times I’m waiting 1hr30mins to 2hrs for food and it would arrive cold. They had an awesome indian manager who would make sure the food is good, on time and hot ready to eat. Seems like he was let go also because haven’t seen him since. Customer service has been super horrible, I ordered from a-1 many times and once they had a person who said he works at a gas station and doesn’t know how to help me regarding a food order which was very unprofessional. People before made sure everyone in our hotel was happy with there orders and my family personally. If there was ever an issue the owner would actually drive down to us and make sure everything was perfect. Some days they are closed randomly. I’ve had countless amount of issues with this business ever since the old managers and staff were let go. I placed an order of just a pizza a week ago and it arrived 2HOURS LATER. This would never happen before. That was the last order I will be placing and I am also taking away the menus that we give to our hotel guests until you guys actually hire some professionals to manage the place, cook good food and deliver it on a timely fashion. I’m sorry but I will be removing my previous 5...

This place is a Sleeper! I came upon it by accident - a pizza & grill take-out restaurant with Indian food? I love good Indian food and thought, well, I'll give it a try. I wasn't expecting much but started by digesting the menu - it's large - 4 1/4 pages packed! One & 1/4 pages have some 55 Indian & related dishes. The Samosa appetizer (2, very large) were delicious. Never had ones this big but they compared favorably with the ones made by "the best Indian cook" who taught me how to cook and eat Indian. I ordered the Naan - it was fresh and warm and perfect - and the Dal Tadka. I ordered it hot (spicy) which was just right for me (also available medium and mild). It came with basmati rice. It was excellent! I ate it with the Naan and took the rice and half the Dal home for another excellent meal of leftovers. The dining area decor doesn't get any points - it's standard take out/ pizza parlor - and I didn't try the American side of the menu, but I will be going back to try the other Indian dishes. It may take me awhile - I live 3 hr away.
[Previous post 2019. Update 9/15/23: I haven’t had an opportunity to eat here since before Covid started and I haven’t been flying by way of BWI (Baltimore). More recent reviews may be more accurate than this one. Things change, but I enjoyed A-1 when I was...
