Edit - I went this afternoon, on a Saturday, with my mother and daughter. Problems will pop up from time to time. I tried the new Turkey avocado wrap. The wrap itself was good and ingredients were fresh, but it was very bland. I told our server, who was lovely about it and she sent the manager over. He as such a sweet, helpful guy. I explained I had told her as constructive criticism, and it was bland. I had planned to take my wrap home and add some ranch or spicy mayo to it, as they had not put enough on, and I expected it would be great then. He appreciated my feedback, talked to me about the situation in a very friendly way, and offered me some of their avocado mayo, I think it was, to take with me. Perfect! He also comped one of our meals. Issues pop up at any restaurant from time to time. It is how the restaurant deals with them that is important. They were wonderful & I felt very valued as a customer.
....the servers have been consistently friendly, prompt, helpful and polite. The menu has a decent variety of options. The selections are really cheap. One complaint I have about other chain restaurants now is that it's very difficult to get a lunch sandwich with fries for less than $10. Friendly's has much more reasonable prices. I'd even say they have some real bargains. I really loved one of their new sandwiches that sells for $5.55 with fries. It has turkey and some really good bacon, with melted cheese and honey mustard on toasted bread. It's really good. The bacon is always nice and crisp and flavorful. I have never had the unpleasant experience here of getting bacon that's chewy and nasty and undercooked. I hate it when that happens but it's never happened here. And it's so cheap! I've been happy with everything that I've ordered there.
They have a really decent kids menu. First, they don't just have a kids placemat . They have extra large cover for the table with all kinds of coloring activities and games to entertain the kids while they wait. And they bring out a cup with a bunch of crayons for them. And then the menu itself is a great for kids. It's really affordable and comes in different portion sizes for different ages and appetites. The kids have a lot of choices including something that's like chicken tenders on a stick. There are things as simple as little hot dogs. There are baked chicken strips for those who want something like that for their children. I think that there must be at least 10 main choices for the children. Kids also have a lot of choices between sides for their meal including apple slices or mac and cheese or french fries or broccoli. And they can also choose a drink and a sundae. And I think the kids meal is only $5 or $6.
Friendly's also has this ice cream option that I love. The ice cream is softer and is blended with cookie dough or a choice of different kinds of candies or cookies. I think it runs somewhere between $4 and $6. Everything is so inexpensive and pretty decent to excellent. My mother, my daughter and I can eat there and it will only cost about 20 bucks and you really can't beat that.
I have to give Friendly's five stars. It is clean. The service is fast and friendly despite their always being a good crowd. The food is good and the prices are fantastic. There's really nothing to complain about that I've ever seen. Even the bathrooms are clean. And of course Friendly's ice cream is fabulous.
I noted some less positive reviews below or people complained about the never-updated decor and it not being clean and the service being poor. I can say I've never had that experience. I know they remodeled recently and there are pictures in the photo section here in Google of the sign up for the remodeling and the reopening. The red Decor in some of the photos is the way it looks now. Those brown striped booth type tables are no longer there. And I've never noticed any kind of problem with cleanliness. In fact I've noted just the opposite. So maybe at one time there was an issue, but in the past few months since we have been going it's been nothing but great.
