I had seen "Fryers" on a trip down in Colesville. First, I looked it up online and started to shake as I read each item on the menu...Hwatttt???? Fried Chicken AND soft serve ice cream in one place ???? This can't be... I was elated to say the least. I had finally found my food mecca. 1 pm on a Saturday and you would have expected to stand in a line, but to my delight we walked right up. Believe me when I tell you, I have found the Holy Grail of Fried Chicken ! We have been researching fried chicken venues for years, including Hersheys, Harvest Chicken in Taneytown, Bon Chon, Jolly Bee, Dickerson Market, and various Gas Stations (I know, I know.) to no avail after being told so many times "this Chicken will make you slap yo momma good". Soft serve is my middle name and through the years have found Dairy Queen for texture, taste, and delivery vehicle i.e., cake cone to be my Golden Standard however, I would never pass up a Livveys (Cumberland), or Swirlie's (Manassas) soft serve cone.
The owner was delightful and personable. The staff were both pleasant and efficient andddd... although I requested no ice in my root beer and still got it, I looked the other way bc the cashier was as cute as a button. Some patron backed too far in and turned over a planter, and the owner came running out from the store saying "Oh no worries here, we'll get it back together in no time" exhibiting patience and respect I could only dream of possessing. The chicken was crunchy , but a tad salty without the "sauce" . I asked for hot sauce on the side as well, along with Greek Watermelon salad, and sweet potato fries. (2 of their seasonal sides) A LOT of work went into that salad with Watermelon bc each morsel was cubed / Melon balled with love and sweat. Although refreshing, it lacked something, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. The rolls were amazing and a great vessel for n impromptu chicken sandwich. The hot sauce was "meh" after being warned by both my Husband and the Cashier that it contained N.C. Reaper Peppers, and was I SURE I could handle it. 🙄 After gorging on delicious heavily battered chicken and the world's best sweet potato fries I have ever tasted, what could possibly top off this meal to make it a perfect afternoon in the DMV you ask? SOFT SERVE!!!! I felt like a 6 year old on Christmas morning anticipating all those brightly colored presents I was about to open...and... .... Wah, wah, wah wahhhhh.... Underroos?!!!! The soft serve was pitiful. It real-life, it's "ice milk" . I was instantly deflated when the staff member handed it to me. I sulked and meandered back to the table. The cone tasted like shredded paper, and I just threw it into the chicken bone bag. So in the final analysis, here comes the question..."would I go back?" I would mos def revisit the chicken and rolls, but I would anticipate bringing my own hot sauce and Kerrygold...

And it’s fantastic! Even our 5 year old agrees, as he eats his third helping of Mac & Cheese after cleaning his plate of chicken, potato wedges, and a roll.
We ended up getting way too much food because we wanted to try so many things. Here is a quick rundown:
Chicken tenders (classic): these might be the best chicken tenders I’ve ever had. They were cooked perfectly with a juicy inside and a slightly crunchy outside. Chicken tenders (Smokin’ hot): also good. I was expecting super spicy, but the chicken was spicy without being overbearing. That’s not a complaint, Just an observation. The only downside is that whatever spicy stuff they cook the chicken in gets a little greasy at the bottom of the to-go container. Just don’t let it sit and it’ll be fine, though. Fish nuggets (hot): I could eat these all day. The fish was melt in your mouth good and the breading was perfect. The same comment as above goes for this, regarding the hot sauce, but it’s not a real issue. Still, I think I’ll get this in classic style next time because the fish was just that good. Potato wedges: these are dangerously delicious. I don’t know what kind of seasoning they used but I need more. Honey Sriracha Brussels sprouts: a little spicy, a little sweet. These are amazing. My only comment is that I’d like them a little drier/crispier instead of sitting in a container of liquidy sauce. I’d get it again without hesitation though. Collared greens: delicious flavor and texture. I wasn’t expecting them to have a touch of sweetness but I found myself liking it. Mac & Cheese: I’d love to tell you my thoughts, but I only got a few bites because Max ate it all. So… two thumbs up from him! Buttermilk Biscuits: order these and thank me later. FYI: There are two biscuits to an order, so we got twice as many as I was expecting. Now we have some for tomorrow! Shakes: we got Oreo and Peanut Butter shakes. I can’t wait to try them after The Kid goes to bed.
Thanks again, Ed & Jennifer for bringing your expertise to our little...

We ended up driving by on the way to DC and I haven't had food this good in a while! The last bbq place we ate at last week was a disappointment and FRYERSSS!! Fryers is so good! Worth every penny!
The fries were so fresh and crispy and crunchy on the outside and slightly soft in the middle. Not dry or over done.
The Sliced Texas Brisket was so damn good! Lots of flavor and super tender with a rim of charred crispiness on the top! The sauce (Kansas City) went really well with the brisket.
The Chopped Texas Brisket Sandwich was so good! The bread alone was fresh and so soft and warm. The brisket, again, you can't miss with that. The pickle added to the flavor and the crunch set it off.
The Pulled Pork Pizza was delicious! I'm used to "traditional" pizzas and don't normally pick meats outside of the typical pepperoni or sausage and the Pulled Pork looked so good I had to give it a try. You can't lose at $5 a slice. They even heat it to perfection with the singed bits on the crust. It was so warm and soft and brittle. The pulled pork on it was crumbly and very flavorful!
The atmosphere is pleasing. I'm from the country south so to sit outside and hear the cars going by in the distance felt like home. You could smell the smokey meats and it had an outback, bbq, cookout feel to it. Lots of space and plenty of seats.
The price is what wrapped it all up!! You won't regret spending funds here and tipping was well worth it. The staff brought our food to us and were extremely polite and helpful!
Don't miss out! We'll be back.
I couldn't even get a full picture of the pizza we already started...
