La Villita Restaurant — Restaurant in Maryland

I came on a Wednesday lunch hour. Not busy at all, so I had time to look at the menu. Much to my surprise is the list of tacos available. I was definitely impressed. Most Mexican restaurants I have been only offer four or five varieties. La Villita has at least ten! I ordered a Suadero, Lengua, Cecina, and Pastor. Of my choices, I preferred the lengua. It was tender and lightly seasoned (my preference). The cecina was particularly an mention due to the lovely bitter flavor of the slightly charred bits that gave it a nostalgic campfire roasting. The meat was tender and crisp. The lime provided a counter balance to the charring allowing burst of flavor mixtures to combine with the fresh veggies that is such a delight to enjoy. I don't usually post bad reviews because I don't want to negatively affect someones business. That being said, my first time getting food from here was absolutely gross. The staff was super pleasant but the food was basic and old. I got the crispy chicken tacos. The chicken in the taco was old, bland and mushy. I couldnt even finish the food. I would have taken it back but the drive was too far. The beans had a strange flavor like they had been cooked 1 or 2 days ago. It was just not a freshly cooked meal. $11 wasted. The food is very good. They are getting two stars due to awful service. I placed an order through Grubhub for pickup. An hour and 20 minutes later, grubhub indicated it was “still in the works”, so I drove to the store to see what was up. When I got there, the hostess claimed the WiFi was acting up, and they hadn’t received my order. She went right over to the computer, clicked grubhub, and my order was right there. I watched her do it. It seems to me that they were just ignoring their grubhub orders for the last hour and a half.
