When you first walk in you will notice that the "steak" is pre-cooked.....I mean there is literally (not figuratively) a foot-high mound of it on the grill. I went in for lunch on a Thursday, and the owner told me that they had to do it like that because it gets too busy to do them to order. She says this as I'm the only one in line. I only ever saw 3 other orders the 25 minutes I was there during peak lunch hours. A "regular" steak sandwich will set you back about $16.50 with cheese. Once you get over the sticker shock, and go ahead and order extra cheese (you are up to $19.00 now) you'll be served an inexcusably large portion of that dried out steak-um meat-like substance on a cold and chewy roll. I don't care how much of that meat you put on it it will not make up for the dried choke it down consistency and the boiled in onions flavor. I understand that it used to be a Dundalk area staple, but this place is a hole now. Now, you are thinking at least the extra cheese helped. Well, where was that extra cheese? Turns out that they mixed it into the "steak." I saw some clumps of cheese here and there, but i gave up looking fast. I just swept off 1/2 the meat from one-half of the sandwich, drowned it in mayo, and got some food in my belly. I gave my dog the other 3 lbs of "steak". I hope he does ok. The bright spot is that the fries were prepared to order, and they only mixed in about 20% of the...
Read moreThe service was very friendly and quick. My fries were hot and fresh and tasty and my coke was perfect. Now the cheesesteak. I only ordered a half and I'm glad I did because that was a lot. There is a very good quantity of meat on this sandwich, which is why I would highly recommend ordering extra cheese. There's so much meat that just the ordinary amount of cheese is not sufficient. The roll is ok for this region. A bit too soft for a cheese steak but it was good and fresh. It just doesn't hold up to the meat and moisture from the onions. While there is plenty of meat on the sandwich, they unfortunately don't season it at all so it's very bland. You can try to salt and pepper it when you are served but that's best done before and during cooking unfortunately. The entire shopping center has a post apocalypse vibe like most of Baltimore. The shop is pretty old and rundown so if you don't find old holes in the wall charming then this place isn't...
Read moreIt cost me $10 for a turkey sub and chips, after my meal I went and asked for one of their newly advertised milkshakes and it reeked of sour milk when I told management I wanted a refund, they gave me a dirty look and offered me another milkshake... If the machine is spewing out sour milk why would I want another milkshake from it? ON TOP OF THAT this was a new item on the menu so it should have been made in such a manner to get positive customer feedback. Captain Harvey's had great food and customer service five years ago but it has really gone down the sh!tter! They also prepare pounds of cheesesteak meat and let it sit on the stove with flies landing on it until someone comes along and orders a cheesesteak sub, than they reheat it.. Would...
