Reid's Jerk Shack — Restaurant in Maryland

I was really excited to hear about a Jamaican spot in Essex because for any kind of seasoned food, you have to travel outside the county lol. I ordered the jerk shrimp but they didn't have any, no biggie, I ordered the curry shrimp dinner with mashed potatoes and peas and rice.

What I got was buttered shrimp with mashed potoes and black beans and rice.

I didn't get my peas and rice, the mashed potatoes didn't have any gravy, It was served with the pan drippings of making the buttered shrimp (im going to assume😬) and I had slices of cut potatoes in my meal.

So I basically didn't get anything I asked for but my mashed potatoes with no gravy🥴

We also ordered the patties which were okay. My friend also disnt get his plantains with his order.

Not sure how this place has a rating of 4.8. The food is good but they give you a whole container of 90% rice and like 2 SMALL pieces of chicken that taste like it’s been reheated or sitting out for hours/days. I was so disappointed when I opened my bag and saw how small the portions of chicken was. The menu is confusing as well.

I thought it was just me, so I even sent my boyfriend to go get food for me once thinking maybe because he’s a man, the woman server would be nicer to him. But no. Same subpar service for small portions and overpriced food.

I wanted to root for this place because I love Jamaican food, but this is not it. The server has a attitude. Overpriced food for tiny portions of meat. It’s not worth it. Do not order the Mac and cheese because it is DRY. You can get better authentic Jamaican food...

Recently visited this restaurant for dinner to take home to my family. They have a new menu item that looked, and smelled very good. When I asked the owner if I could try a small sample of this new item She said no we don't do that here and nowere else does it neither. Remind you that I had spent $24.00 already for dinner and it was already paid for. This establishment really needs to start looking out for there future, and current customers face it who is going to spend $10.00 on a new item that they created. The reason for someone trying a sample is so we won't waste our money on something that we might, of might not like .
