Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Maryland

I am not sure why there is such buzz about Rita's. Their Gelati is anything but Gelati; compared to the real Italian ice cream, Rita's is no more than an extremely overpriced snow cone. As for their custard, I strongly suspect that it exceeds the federal standard limiting the maximum overrun to 100%; at least at the Harper's Choice location. I mean really, a $5 cone that feels like thick whipped cream and has so much air whipped into it that it hardly even melts, or feels cold!? I've been disappointed every time I've visited this overly hyped and excessively priced place. They do seem to be independently owned franchises, so perhaps the custard is better at other locations. Visited the location and received extremely poor customer service. I was ignored by the employee that was working after knocking on the window for 5 minutes. Mind you, me and this employee had eye contact and I was still ignored. Once this employee opened the window he stated that he was cleaning and could not open the window because they closed in 10 minutes. I then proceeded to ask for the manager’s information and was ignored until another employee provided the information. After speaking with the owner he seemed like he was in a rush to get off the phone and constantly talked over me. I highly doubt this issue will be addressed. Poor service all around. This is the worst Rita’s location EVER and trust I have been to numerous locations. First off the staff is horrible and RUDE . Second let’s discuss why the Italian ice is sometimes waaaay to sugar to the point where u can’t even enjoy it . Third their custard machine must be defective or the lady that was working that day didn’t know how to do the mix because it was so THICK SO NASTY oh and here’s the best part , I put the custard in the window to see how long it took to melt and guest what .... it never melted .
