Skippers Pier in Deale, Maryland - A Hidden Treasure for Waterfront Dining It's rare to find a place that consistently feels like home, while also offering an experience that's worthy of a special occasion. Skippers Pier in Deale, Maryland, is exactly that kind of haven. My family and I have been patrons for years, and it has become our go-to for any kind of celebration or even just a casual night out.
Staff That Make You Feel at Home 🌟 One of the most significant highlights is the incredibly warm and accommodating staff. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with genuine smiles and attentive service. They make an effort to know their customers, which adds a personal touch to your dining experience.
Unbeatable Location with a View 🌅 The waterfront location in Southern Anne Arundel County is just incomparable. If you time your dinner around sunset, you'll be treated to a breathtaking view that can only be matched by the quality of the food. It reminds me of the Little River Band song, "Cool Change," which, interestingly enough, is led by Glenn Barrie Shorrock, born on June 30th—a water sign. The soothing melodies and the tranquil water scenes are a match made in heaven!
Seafood and More 🦀 When it comes to the menu, Skippers Pier shines in its seafood offerings. Whether it's the freshest catch of the day or their infamous $3 crabs on Tuesdays, the quality is always top-notch. I usually go for 10 or 12 crabs, and they never disappoint. If seafood isn’t your thing, don't worry—the menu is diverse enough to satisfy any palate.
Don't Miss the National Bohemian 🍺 Ah, yes—the drink options! If you want to keep things local, go for a National Bohemian, available in bottles and sometimes cans. It’s the ideal companion to your meal, especially if you're indulging in the local seafood.
Final Thoughts 🌟 If you're in the area and looking for a dining experience that combines exceptional food, top-notch service, and a view to die for, Skippers Pier should be at the top of your list. It's the kind of place that charms you on your first visit and keeps you coming back for more. A true gem in Deale, Maryland!

Read moreA terrible dining experience even though my food was excellent except I would recommend not to order the salmon even though it was delicious. The portion of this very expensive dish was enough to feed no more than a barely adolescent child portion to anyone over the age of 14. This is the third time that it was this pitiful. First of all we must start on table so we can have a place to sit down. It was very hot so we wanted cold beer which turned out to be lukewarm and in an 8 oz glass. Since someone from the kitchen brings your order out and not your waiter or waitress we sat there for quite a while while our food was getting cold because no one checked on us to see if our order was correct or if we needed anything additional. It was not correct and we did need additional assistance. Assistance that we never saw. Eventually I got tired of waiting for my food to get Frosty and went and helped myself to the supply of items we needed, which were basic table items such as salt and pepper and or Old Bay and additional napkins, along with something to drink as our glasses were empty. He did not see our waiter close enough to get his attention from the time that the food was brought out from the kitchen until the time we were ready for the check. Neither of us will ever order food from here again. Nor were the alcohol free cocktails that only cost $7 with no alcohol to speak of, and on at least one occasion none at all as we had watched it being made. After drinking some of it my dining mate walked towards the bartender who met them simultaneously at the end of the bar with the bottle of vodka in hand which had been omitted. That only tells me that they were aware that they did not put it in there to begin with, yet served it and didn't correct their mistake until prompted to do so. Nice ambience for dining outdoors and even out on the end of a dock. Sadly that's all they really had going for them despite a long running reputation for being one of the best. In the not too distant past I would agree with that in the last two years it has proven to be the...
Read moreI could not believe this restaurant was at the end of a housing development. Goals! I need to live here so I can walk here every day.
As soon as we walked in we were greeted by friendly servers. We asked to sit outside. We were seated at an excellent bench seat with an umbrella right off of the pier. It was a beautiful day and a lovely view.
We started off with a Caribbean Colada and an Orange Crush. I did not know Maryland was famous for Orange Crushes and now I know.
For appetizer we got the Fried Green Tomatoes and Chesapeake Crab Dip.
Fried Green Tomatoes
Crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. The tomatoes came topped with a shrimp salad, remoulade and grilled corn salsa. The combination was amazing. I was definitely not expecting the flavor explosion.
Chesapeake Crab Dip
The crab dip came with warm Bavarian pretzels. This was the best crab dip that I have ever had. I think it was the cheese. The soft pretzels were a great addition. Best crab dip ever and I've had a lot of crab dips.
It was so hard to pick an entree. We both decided on the same thing, the Mrs. Maryland. The Mrs. Maryland is a club sandwich consisting of a blue crab cake, Old Bay Shrimp salad, lettuce, tomato and smoky bacon stacked with toasted sourdough bread.
We were full and could only eat half of our club, so we took the other halves home to eat for lunch the next day.
We also the Double Chocolate Smith Island cake to go. Honey, when I tell you this was the most moist and chocolate filled cake ever, IT was the most moist chocolate filled cake ever.
I also took the Summer Strawberry Beignets home for my daughter and she said they were very good.
I enjoyed my food so much I went back the next day.
I have referred several satisfied friends and family members to Skippers Pier Restaurant and Dock Bar.
I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be going back again...
