We've heard many good things about the seafood stop so we decided to give it a try. To place things into perspective, I've lived in Maryland my whole life and understand how the demand can be for grabs in August. That being said, we called in an order around 3 pm for a dozen larges and a dozen mediums to be picked up at 6 pm. We arrived 5 minutes before 6 and not only were people crammed into their pickup counter like sardines but people were continuing to flow into the building as if the grabs were being given away for free... My 1st impression was "this many people, this place must be really good". I quickly realized the frustration in people's faces and the young staff who began to place construction paper signs it front reading: ".... Pick up for 6 pm is running late..." that the establishment simply overbooked all their pickups for the exact same time... This obviously could have been easily remedied by taking pickups with 30 minute spreads but for the older gentleman who was waiting patiently for his grabs while pressed against the fish counter it was unexcusable so he left leaving his order behind. We thought we were lucky, our name was one of the earliest orders called at 15 after and we jetted out quickly to avoid what looked to be a situation going from bad to worse. The review could have ended here or may not have even been written had it not been for what happened next...yes it gets worse. 5 minutes to the road we receive a call from the establishment and on the other end of the phone a teenage voice pleads for us to bring the grabs back as they believe they gave us the wrong order. Frustrated I ask what I was given and if my order would be ready upon return and I was responded with "we don't know what we gave you but are sure it's not yours and yours is ready". Dumbfouned, we return to the store returning the order only to wait another 5 minutes because MY order actually wasn't ready. The three extra medium grabs we were given was either a mistake or a sorry gesture for the complete breakdown we experienced. In all honesty this post was even more a hope that the establishment didn't hand back out the grabs that I left with originally and returned 10 minutes later as I'm pretty sure that is a "no no" for health standards. I obviously didn't even open the returned grabs however some other iterated customer could have taken their frustration out on the returned order to an unbeknownst patron receiving a...
Read moreGrew up in Maryland my whole life called them to buy live crabs which in most places are cheaper than the steam crabs since you're doing all the work. I called they told me that the same price that's fine but then they tell me the price would for a dozen large is $75 hours, when everywhere else I've called has been under 50 this place is overpriced I've eaten here before their crabs are not that great they're light and most of them are green inside will never come back to this place again or call them heard many reviews about them being bad as well and still even tried to try it myself to no avail. I get it the crabs are a hot commodity in Maryland but you don't need to kill people and prices, when there's places doing the same crabs for $40 for a dozen large just wanted somewhere close to Belair to get crabs. Unfortunately have to drive down to Rosedale Essex and Bowleys Quarters to get these and crabs. Anyone who thinks he's crabs are reasonably priced, check out anywhere in the Bowleys Quarters Chase Essex or Rosedale area great prices great crabs heavy and full although it's a drive...
Read moreI ordered crabs several times in the past and was satisfied overall. This past weekend I ordered a dozen large crabs and was very disappointed. After driving 30 minutes to pick them up and 30 minutes to get home, I found several of the crabs were obviously dead before they were steamed. They smelled rotten and black putrid liquid came out when the shells were opened. The rest of the crabs were extremely watery, and I suspect that they were steamed more than once. I am from Maryland and have been eating crabs consistently my entire life, so I know the difference between a fresh crab and dead crab. I called the store and asked that they refund my money and that I would try them again next time I wanted crabs. They refused to refund me unless I brought the crabs back to the store. I explained that I already drove an hour total to pick up the crabs originally and return home, and that I was not doing that again for another hour. They still refused to refund my money. I won't be buying crabs there again and I suggest that you be careful...
