If barbecue is about the smoke, pit beef is about the fire. Pit beef to perfection. I’ve been coming here since before Andy & Brenda Wargo bought it 42 years ago. It’s the standard against which I’d compare pit beef. I’ve not found better anywhere. Homemade rolls perfectly frame the sandwich. The rest of the menu is excellent as well. Delicious soups. Terrific fresh fried oysters in season. A very credible crabcake. Pit turkey or ham. Down home. Not pretentious. You’re extra fortunate if you get George as your waiter. (Pit beef cooked on Fridays & Saturdays. Save the oysters for a Wednesday night.)

I haven't been here in 15 years and I can tell you the pit beef is still fantastic! The salad bar seemed a little cramped in hard to Dish up yourself, but it's a good addition to any meal. The horseradish that I got on my sandwich was hot! So fantastic! The service was as you'd expect from a family-owned restaurant. Very good and home like. I won't wait another 15 years. This will be a monthly stop for me. The pit beef is only available Friday and Saturdays.

Saw the pit beef sign.. The smallest Pit Beef sandwich I have ever seen, think slider.. All for 9bucks. Sad!! The French fries came out on a teacup saucer.. Was Cheated!! Lots of Bot reviews..

Okay let me tell you something this place is only fair. It's not great, it's only fair. I mean we had this waiter young kid, tall lanky not that it really matters about his appearance. But he wasn't knowledgeable whatsoever, I knew more about the menu then he did. The only thing he was informative of what's the time that they make the Pitt beat. And that was not on the day that I went. That's not why they're only fair, they're only fair because the food. But I'm getting there. But let's first talk about the interior of this building. Talk about dated. I thought I was on the set of the freaking Brady Bunch! I mean it looked like it was straight out of the 60s! The bathroom oh my God can we even call in the bathroom. I've been in nicer outhouses. The booths were slightly hard, they were not very comfortable. I will say that the interior should not ultimately weigh in on the quality of the food, and it didn't. But it does weigh in on the quality of the dining experience. And let me tell you it does way in. But now let's get on the food, we ordered onion rings to start with, and they were decent the breading didn't necessarily stick to the onion, but they were still very okay. I was going to say good, but we'll settle for a okay. Now the sauce that they came with, it was like a version of Outbacks come back, with a little bit of his thing to it. So I would say they're dipping sauce for the onion ring it was an A+. But let me tell you that was the only thing they got an A-Plus on! Don't let them fool you. Their food is lackluster. As an entree I got a Reuben oh, it was decent it was a lot of me. Very thick, but that's because they're only trying to overcompensate for their shittyfood. My friend ended up getting a cheeseburger, condiments were still in the kitchen when the burger came out to the table. What is up with that, who the hell leaves condiments behind didn't tell you to eat your burger and the condiments are still conversating in the back! I mean come on for real if we're being serious here now. It's been around for a while, obviously that means it has some following, but if you asked me they're really not eating, they're drinking Liquid Gold from the bar. So all in all my experience was just mediocre. That's right mediocre. Not great not horrible, mediocre I'm going in this with one word and that word...

Our first impressions of the dining room (note we did not visit the bar area) were a little older style decor but we don't judge until we try the food and experience the service.

The staff was very nice, and quick to accommodate us having a child in need of a high chair. We surveyed what everyone was eating as we sat down and every meal we saw was visually appealing and smelled great as we were seated. Our dinner was great, reasonably priced, and the service was quick on a Saturday night after 6pm.

The home made desserts are clearly well appreciated because half of them were sold out before we were able to order any for ourselves.

The food felt like a home cooked meal. The atmosphere was kind of like being part of someone's family home and we didn't mind it. It was relaxing and we enjoyed our food.

If you're looking for trendy decor, bells and whistles on eye candy and entertainment then this isn't the place for you. But if you want a well home cooked meal that tastes great, reasonably priced, and a place you can breath in and relax this is your spot.

We'll be back...

so I gave 3 stars simply because when I ordered the chuck steak it was served to me as a meatloaf with gravy . the mashed potatoes tasted instant. their house dressing g was amazing for the salad I ordered and tasted just like Ceasar dressing, also theirbread was served warm with butter only complaint is they didn't cut it all the way through. The dining area wasn't updated and was very a bit too dark and had Christmas lights hung up on the walls. My boyfriend ordered the BBQ pulled pork. once he got to the middle of the sandwich he started tasting what he described as sugar granulates. he did not enjoy the sauce that was mixed in with the pork due to this. The wait staff was very plight and very attentive. pool leagues are co stanty playing so call ahead to check if they are playing because we could get to play on a Thursday. then was told we weren't allowed to play open table after they were done by the waitress that asked the staff. the waitress informed us that they were shutting down after the...
