Our family went to Townsend for a hot air balloon festival, and the heat in the middle of the day was just a little too much for us. We decided to leave to find somewhere for dinner out of the heat in hopes of going back when the evening cooled things down. We tried 3 different places, but the wait was either much too long, or there were other problems that kept us from eating there. Fourth time's a charm! We ended up pulling into the Apple Valley Cafe, and were met with friendly faces, and quick service. The food was amazing, and the people were so friendly. I got the Springer Mountain chicken salad on sourdough, and it was delicious! The spiral wedge fries that I got with it were probably the best I've had, and I consider myself a bit of a fry snob. I never bring fries home because they never seem to reheat well, but I brought some of these home, reheated them in the air fryer, and they were just as good as yesterday! Could have made a whole meal out of those fries! There isn't a ton of seating inside, and that was discouraging at first because we wanted to cool off, but the outside dining area is well-shaded and has fans blowing, and this kept us cool. It was a very pleasant place to sit even though it was very hot outside.

The store was also excellent! Room to walk around, but filled with lots of beautiful items, many locally made. There were the normal touristy type items, but they were well-chosen, and seemed to be of good quality. We bought some of the Dancing Bean coffee, and had the Cinnamon Sugar Cookie (think that's the name) this morning, and it's DELICIOUS!

We live over an hour away, but I'm already thinking about driving back out that way so that we can visit the Cafe and store again in the near future. It was a very...

We ordered Smashburgers and a mac-n-cheese to share. The burgers were just ok, not great. Our biggest complaint is that we had to wait a long time in line to place our order, as they only had one register open. It was hot; people were fanning themselves with menus. A server was walking by and I asked him if they could open another register. He went behind the counter and asked, and they told him they would only open another register if the line is out the door. Yikes!! When it was my turn to order, I found out that I cannot substitute cheddar cheese on the Meltdown. I have to order a "build-your-own", which costs an additional $6!! When I pointed that out, they made a "one time exception" and "allowed" me to have cheddar. For dessert, we ordered 2 apple pies. They were not warm, and they were both burnt around the edges. I mentioned it, and they gave us new ones and microwaved them to warm them up. I only gave 2 stars for service because of the the long wait to place an order, and unwillingness to open a 2nd register. That being said, I do want to give a 5-star rating to the staff. They were super attentive and friendly. For example, when I was waiting at the counter for the new apple pies, every single person that walked by and saw me standing there asked if I needed help with anything. Bottom line... there are several other restaurants nearby that would probably be a...

🌄🍔✨ 5 STARS from Team Proven Home Pros! 🚛❤️🍎 We cruised into Townsend, TN from Cincinnati, OH with Dazie, our trusty 1954 CHEV 3100 Truck, for the Smoky Mountain Nationals 2025 🛻🔥—and guess what? Apple Valley Mountain Village & Café is now officially Dazie Approved! ✔️🐾

🍽️ Let’s talk about this epic meal: 🌶️ Mom (yours truly) cozied up to a bowl of chili with cornbread that packed a spicy kick and a whole lotta comfort—just what the mountains ordered on a rainy day! 🍔 Our son, powered by what can only be described as two hollow legs 😂, dove headfirst into the Wagyu Beef Burger and a mountain of twisty fries. 🥧 But HOLD ON — the Apple Pie Pocket stole the whole show. HOT, flaky, flavorful, and so dangerously delicious we could live off them all weekend long. YUMMMM! 🤤🔥

🎉 Bonus laughs? We LOVED “squeezing” Caroline the Condiment Cow 🐄—yes, she exists, and yes, she brings joy.

THANK YOU to the wonderful folks at Apple Valley Mountain Village & Café for a perfect pit stop. We’re sending foodie love from Dazie and the whole crew ❤️

A favorite place of ours to eat near the Smokies in Townsend, TN. Their sidewinder fries are the best! #smokymountains #smokymountainsnationalpark #gsmnp #townsend #sevierville #tennessee #lunch #burger #mustard #fries #applevalley

This out in the middle of nowhere is worth the drive. Super friendly staff. Thick juicy burgers and nomy fries. Get the Brisket! **edit** THEY DO BREAKFAST TOO. So worth the drive (9/16/2023) I will try the pimento cheese next time. Stopped in after swimming in the cold cold mountain streams and pulled in 15 minutes before closing. We asked if we could still place and order, because we know how it is to have to work late. The young girl who greeted us acted like it was no big deal. Actually the whole staff acted that way. Well except one girl. LOL our friend asked for sweet tea and the girl was like we are out and can't waste a whole pitcher at closing. BUT then another waiter, a guy said give me some unsweetened tea and I'll add sugar. Problem solved. The burger was juicy and thick. The bun soft and fresh. The lettuce was green and crispy. The gift shops are stuffed with naughty delicious sweet things. Get your mind out of the gutter, I'm talking about baked goods. Overall nothing I can or would complain about. Pros: the burgers, the super friendly staff, the desserts, the atmosphere Cons: the location

Good food, great surroundings, friendly folks. UPDATE 7-25-25 We stopped in to Apple Valley for breakfast this morning and I ordered the 2 egg (over medium) plate with sausage, potato casserole, a biscuit with gravy and sausage. I have to say the eggs were cooked perfectly, sausage was served hot and juicy, the gravy was delicious. Unfortunately the biscuit was very heavy and dry. However, the highlight of this breakfast was that potato casserole. By far, the best I have ever had at any restaurant anywhere. It was served hot and fresh, cheesey flavor..just kinda melt in your mouth delicious! While I took points off only for the biscuit, other than that it was a great breakfast. Staff is incredibly friendly and after enjoying the meal you have a nice store with all kinds of jams, ciders, dips, souvenirs, cast iron, etc., to walk around in and shop. I would recommend Apple Valley to anyone visiting the Townsend, Tn area.
