El Maguey — Restaurant in Maryville

I had previously had some poor experiences regarding El Maguey's service (I couldn't find someone to give me the check or help me check out), but my visiting family talked me into going back. I am quite happy they did so, as our visit was amazing.

On our approach to the restaurant we could smell grilled meat, which was delicious and a powerful enough scent to crowd out anything else. Upon entering, a friendly, husky young man greeted us and immediately made sure we were seated. He and all the rest of the staff were quite pleasant all around, and pretty attentive.

The food has always been good, and this time around, it was amazing. I ordered the chicken fajitas, and they came out with that big sizzling skillet. Curls of steam wafted off, already hinting that this was gonna be an amazing meal. The food was seared to perfection, with a great mix of grill char and well seasoned chicken. It was truly the best fajita I ever experienced.

Both my parents were with me, and they both thoroughly enjoyed their food (a grilled chicken chimichunga and the enchilada special). Our server was quite prompt at getting to us, and everything went really well on the whole.

Even the restaurant's pleasant to sit in, incredibly clean with an inviting atmosphere. It lends itself more to night dining, but it still went really well for us on the whole. Hearty recommend, and I'll certainly...

Food - great food for the money. Everything is so fresh, hot and healthy for your stomach as well. 😅 They gave complimentary nachos and salsa 😇 We offered chicken and shrimp as protein. Both are cooked perfect and seasoned properly.

Ambience - It's a good place to spend with family or Friends. Have a nice parking facility as well.

Service - people are very friendly and infact they suggested the dishes as I am new to this place. They are very caring and treat everyone as a family.

Pricing - optimal pricing. Everything is around 10$. Our bill was 27$(had extra chicken)for 2 dishes(easily serves 3 people). Pocket friendly 😉

Experience - overall a positive experience. Would go there again to try new dishes. This is a must visit restaurant in Maryville.

Had to update past review. I'm not sure who is cooking now, but we think they really like salt. If you have blood pressure issues, be careful. Two lunch orders, one got choked down, the other sent back. Better second time. A usual appetizer came out with half the chips and flopped onto half the plate. At least they said they wouldn't charge for the replacement chips, lol. I don't complain, and I'm embarrassed to do it now. I've been coming here since they opened, and this is the first time I wished I went a bit further down the street. I hope they fix it. The eventual 10% discount is not helping this salt...
