I wish Google allowed me to rate the restaurant with 1/2 stars. Red apple's food is better than 3 stars, but isn't quite a 4 star restaurant. The food was good. Our server was good. But management needs some work as do the facilities.
My wife and I arrived about 12:30. The sign out front says they are open until 3. We are promptly shown to a booth. Walking under a ceiling repair that consists of exposed blue foam insulation board stuck to the ceiling that has been this way for more than a year makes you question what other shortcuts may be getting taken with the building maintenance and cleaning.
We waited a reasonable amount of time for the server to come take our order. The food arrived fast and tasted good.
About 1:15, while us and about 4 other tables in our section were still eating, a different server comes by places a bucket that is 3/4 full of coffee creamer cups on our table and asks if we are done with our creamers so she can take them. I thought it was strange to do that to somebody that was still eating, but rolled with it. A few minutes later the rest of the crew descended to start clearing things from tables as well as asking the tables with guests, including ours, if they were done with the ketchup and hot sauce bottles so they could take. Others were sweeping the floors and leaning brooms against the booth we are still sitting in, etc. It was like they were already closed and they wanted us to leave. But remember, this was an hour and fourty five minutes before the 3pm closing time and honestly quite rude.
And don't get me started with the (common in a lot of restaurants) practice of marrying (dumping one partially used bottle into another partially used bottle) the used ketchup bottles...it's gross. Not to mention that it can lead to serving expired product (not saying Red Apple...
ย ย ย Read moreI recently visited this restaurant, and I must express my deep dissatisfaction with the experience. My husband ordered a cheeseburger, and when he asked to switch out the soup for something else, the staff seemed confused. Instead of offering an alternative, they simply stated they wouldnโt bring out the soupโno explanation, no options.
As for my meal, I ordered the breakfast plate that consisted of one egg, two pieces of bacon, and a small portion of hash browns, priced at $6.95. The egg was slimy and discolored, the hash browns were burnt and barely edible, and the overall presentation was unappetizing. My husbandโs cheeseburger arrived with an obviously fried patty that had a disturbing gray tint, signaling it was likely frozen. The tomato with tuna salad I ordered looked like it came straight from a can, lacking any freshness.
What made this experience even more frustrating was the feeling that this restaurant gets away with serving subpar food because their clientele is primarily elderlyโa group that may not always speak up about their concerns. The meal, which consisted of my disappointing one-egg breakfast, my husbandโs lackluster frozen cheeseburger, and a tuna salad, ended up costing us $40. The final straw was when the server handed us a barely legible receipt, making it difficult to even verify the charges.
This was an incredibly poor dining experience, and I would strongly advise others to avoid this establishment. We left packed up the food tipped of course but I will not be back. The quality of the food and service was completely unacceptable, especially at the price we paid. Especially because all Maryville does is support this place. Do better red...
ย ย ย Read moreWent there for the first time today and it was the worst restaurant I've ever been to. The food was gross and soaked in grease. The fish and chicken tasted like eggs because they don't clean their grills. My girlfriend was highly disgusted with how the grease on her fries and fish glistened. After one bite she quit, because she felt like she had just put chapstick on because the grease in one bite coated her mouth and lips. The food didn't come with all of the things the menu said would come with it. They offer soup with almost everything, but had no soup menu. My chicken croissant sandwich was flat and not fluffy. The smell of the food was horrible. The service was poor. It took us five minutes to be seated when we got there, because no one even noticed we walked in. The waitress didn't even ask why we didn't eat the full bowls of soup she took away or why my girlfriend literally ate nothing off of her plate. The cooks didn't wear hair nets and one had a big, scruffy beard. There were also flies bothering us the whole time. I will never go there again and I would strongly suggest that anyone reading this should avoid...
