I know I've only given 3 stars to what should be a 5 star company but here is why.
I have been going to Cape Cod Coffee Roasters for 10 years now. Back when Demos owned it he and I spent the better part of 15-20 minutes every time I went in talking about coffee. I learned so much from him. He was all about the bean, the cup, and the flavor.
Since the company was sold I have to say the quality has changed. I was recently in the store and was asked more questions about buying secondary products than I was asked about my coffee purchase. There are too many companies out there that are not all about the coffee and I'm afraid that CCCR is becoming one of those companies.
The coffee I purchased was also not properly sealed. The beans are somewhat dry and not what I expect from CCCR. Which is very sad becasue this bag lasts me a VERY long time being that I make espresso with it. I'm afraid I will have to throw away a good portion of the beans when they start to loose their "luster". Sad.
This all comes down to the problem of how the coffee is packaged. As of the last few years all the coffee offered is sold in prepackaged bags. Not the way it had been offered, in bins where you could see the beans, taste them, and experience them before you buy. Now shopping for coffee at CCCR is like buying coffee at Starbucks, sealed bags, and other retail. It's kind of killing the coffee experience.
There is also the issue I personally have with quality after the purchase. I used to be able to purchase a half pound of coffee. It was perfect and one of the best parts of buying at CCCR. The half pound allowed me to enjoy a fresh bean for almost the entirety of its use. Just as the beans were losing their "luster" I was out of coffee and it was back to the store to buy more. It worked perfect. I also know a bunch of other people that did the exact same thing. I also spent time and money learning how to properly store coffee so it is not a matter of storing it properly on my end.
I'd like to keep shopping at CCCR but the conversion from a coffee boutique to a "local Starbucks" is...
Read moreI've been here a couple of times and decided to write a review. The coffee, especially the cold brew, is great. Pastries are good too, but a little expensive. For lunch and dinner, the beer selection is good but nothing too crazy. First off, ordering is done at one spot at the bar, not via an app or a wait staff. This causes lines to form when having to order food or drinks. When I am ready to order food from a restaurant, I'm not interested in waiting in 15 minute line to do so. There are definitely apps that could allow ordering direct from a table if they don't want to hire a wait staff. Secondly, the food seems to be a little expensive for what it is, which is wings, pizza and sandwiches. They might have a little flair, but portions are small and it isn't anything out of this world. Also, I've gotten the wings a couple of times, and each time they don't even seem cooked all the way! That is really the only requirement for a good wing! Lastly, tonight, our three entrees came out randomly throughout a 30 minutes span, which is interesting since they were all ordered on the same ticket. Instead of waiting for my food to get cold, I ate my meal and was finished 15 minutes before my wife's food came out. They were both sandwiches.
Honestly, this place has a great atmosphere, both indoor and outdoor, which is super inviting to have a beer or a coffee. I highly recommend it for that purpose. However, the food experience has much room for improvement. I hope that issues are addressed so they can live up to the full potential of the...
Read moreI have eaten here before. However, today we brought our guests from NY City to Cape Cod Coffee for brunch. We were told about a 30 minute wait and after putting our name on the list instructed not to hover or wait near any of the tables as it would be "rude to those eating". We were told to wait outside or away from the tables and not to block the take out coffee area. There were a few other groups waiting, and we asked about eating or sitting near the vacant bar area and was told that area is closed and not being served. We found a spot behind the counter to wait with another group. When moving behind the counter and out of the way of the coffee take out counter, another server came by to abruptly say "We suggest you wait outside or we would prefer if you go wait in your car." We were not in the way of servers or customers and the young lady was assertive, abrupt & rude. There were several open tables but clearly not enough wait staff to assist us in a kind way. And more than 6 bar stools that could have been used for a waiting party out of the way of the unserviced counter I ate at a week ago. We had a nice brunch down the street at another establishment and our NY guests will never forget...
