If I love anything more than my own children, it's bar food. Sometimes you just need to bury yourself in some greasy, fried food made under the music of Led Zeppelin or Sammy Hagar by a cook two packs deep and three shots in.

As a solo eater this evening, I naturally ordered an appetizer and a burger, to get that full bar food effect. The appetizer was five (5) breaded jalapeño poppers. Those bad boys came out in the traditional paper boat only a bar can serve food in. It comes with ranch and when I popped that top off the little plastic ramekin, my heart melted more than when I saw a double rainbow. You guessed it. Home. Made. Ranch. You could put homemade ranch on a stick and I'd eat it. The poppers had that perfect breaded crunch, perfect amount of cream cheese filling, and good jalapeño taste. Poppers w/ life changing ranch 8/10.

My main course was an olive burger. Nothing particularly popped out at me on the menu, so I just took my time scanning it and let the Bar of Influence™ guide me. I started with just the typical Bay de Noc burger, which is just "burger and bun." Direct quote. But I called an audible and decided to roll with the Olive Burger. Now, personally, I believe a top notch Olive Burger is made with an olive spread AND mayo. Not just olives and mayo. But, sometimes just that olive flavor calls and I don't care how I answer the phone. (To be clear, I answered the phone and it was just olives and mayo). Since I was feeling extra gluttonous, I added another patty. Stop. I know. I call myself those names, too. I do think that bonus patty might have been the patty that broke the camels back. Don't get me wrong, I polished it all off, but I felt degraded afterwards. OBDP (Olive Burger, Double Patty) 7/10. OBSP (Olive Burger, Single Patty) 7.75/10

"But what about the fries?" - You, probably. Okokok, relax. The fries were actually amazing. I never know the name/style of these fries (they looked normal with kind of like crispies stuck to them. Also kind of batter-y? I don't know. I'm not a potato). They had a crispy potato-y outside with a soft potato-y inside. They were the perfect doneness. Unknown Potato Style Fries 10/10.

The ambiance was your typical bar type ambiance. High tables, low tables, pool table, juke box, tvs with sports, keno.

Good...

I’ve never had such an experience. I ordered coffee, then the guy taking my order sighed disappointedly, I asked to make sure they had coffee he replied “I’d have to make it”. His attitude was no big deal to me though it was relatable I actually laughed and said I’d really appreciate it.

He came back with a stone cold coffee, absolute room temp. I approached the bar and asked politely as possible could I get fresh hot coffee.

This guy looks disappointed too, he goes checks in the back if they have fresh coffee and he also says he would have to make it fresh

So I definitely didn’t get fresh coffee the first time

Keep in mind I don’t really care about this coffee they could have said they were out or the machine broke or they didn’t have any or didn’t want to I wouldn’t have cared. For some reason they were compelled to serve me cold coffee.

He then has the first guy come back with the same coffee mug fresh out the microwave creamer curdled and said ‘there now it’s hot’

I don’t know what I could have done to this guy, if he didn’t like my look or my fiancé’s, has a bad attitude or maybe he thought I was some drifter passing through and couldn’t care less. I live very close and I will never be back.

It wasn’t just this one individual either all the staff I interacted with minus one young lady were subpar in service and attitude.

Save your time and money like I did and go next door to jacks fresh coffee, great food, good prices opposite...

Mike and Hope are AWESOME!! Memorial Holiday Vacation will definitely be "Memorable" thanks to the outstanding hospitality we received from Mike and Hope! After being on the road for 7 hours and another 5 hours to go, we were exhausted and needed a hotel room. Due to the holidays, everything was taken and there were no vacancies to be found. Just before 2am, we pulled up to the Rapid River Pub to ask if anyone there knew of a cabin, hotel, motel...anything, that would possibly have a room available. Not only did Mike, the owner, offer us a room to sleep in, he cooked us dinner and bought us drinks!! Who does this? We were complete strangers! Mike and his awesome bartender/Manager, Hope, were the greatest Hosts we've ever met! They treated us like family and asked for nothing in return. We will definitely be back Mike and Hope! We will also be promoting your Pub in our upcoming Pub Crawl. Thank you so much for your hospitality!! This is a memory we will share for...

Rapid River Pub on a Friday Night. The place was packed. The staff was cheerful and greeted us right away upon entry. They sat our group of 12 together. Drinks never went dry. Food was great. The perch dinner was outstanding. If you like a place where you feel that you are made at home and you can laugh and be comfortable and get a full belly, then you too will love this place. Rapid River is a great town and has this great bar..
