Honest and friendly! Brah-delicious food! I love that the folks don’t just work there- they take pride in how they make and serve the food- they don’t accept tips. Stars of what we ordered- lau lau (broke da mout) shoyu chicken, deluxe cheese burger, kimchi, pohole, banana cream pie, sweet potato & haupia pie. The flat rice noodles with bacon (super tasty) and green onions was good, but for my liking it needed a little more seasoning and probably it’s a me thing. Likely, the noodles are ideal for locals/many people.

When you come during the week, lots of locals come during their work lunch time to get food (good sign-eh?).

Be patient and kind (as you should anyway :-) The first day we are here, the daughter and grandma with 6 month old grand baby on hip were efficiently serving up ono...

I liked the food (not many vegetarian options but I didn't expect there to be many): the lomi lomi salmon was refreshing and fresh; the Mac salad was flavorful and tender; rice was...rice. The haupia and sweet potato dessert was really good too My main issue was that everything was in (non-compostable) plastic: from the forks (that I refused twice because I have my own set) to the main dish container to the dessert clamshell. When I asked, the friendly woman behind the counter told me that the dishes were made from corn plastic. But a quick look on the bottom shows Plastic #5 - polypropylene. I see photos in year-old reviews that show paper containers, so I'm wondering why they switched. This was the only place I visited while on island that used non-paper,...

I've only been in once...

ATMOSPHERE: It's a mix of a convenience store, a little bit of retail and take-out restaurant all in one.

FOOD: Baked Chicken Breaded bone-in thighs covered in a light brown gravy with sides of canned corn, rice, and potato egg mac salad. The chicken was cooked almost perfect, a few pink areas but tasted great. Rice was good. The mac salad was almost tasteless - definitely needs more mayo. Portion size is perfect, meaning a little on the big side!

SERVICE: I called ahead and my order was ready and waiting. Service was friendly.

OVERALL: Small and simple menu. I'd go back but gotta make sure I have some extra mayo to mix in...

Ordered 2 laulau ($10/each) and 1 freshly made poi ($10) takeout. The staff and owners are very kind and cheerful. The poi was made fresh that morning and was 3-finger poi. I could have added some water to the poi to thin it out and make it soupier, but I just ate it as is. Very thick and rich and slightly sweet. Delicious. The laulau were piping hot and wrapped in foil. The steamed luau leaves were a bit salty, but when mixed with the sweet poi, they were delicious. Lots of pork inside and a small piece of butterfish inside, too. My brother and I shared one laulau and split the poi, and it was plenty!! I would visit again when back on Maui. Thank you.
