Village Deaux — Restaurant in Maurice

I went last Saturday for the first time ever and had the best kolache I'd ever eaten anywhere. Returned yesterday and wanted to try a Boudin stuffed bread. It was horrible. The bread was doughy, soggy, and raw in some parts and the Boudin was the real surprise. It tasted nothing like boudin. I returned back a few minutes later and told the lady working the window that it was horrible and asked for something else and all they had left was a sausage kolache, which I had to them pay for and was also surprised that the kolache wasn't good either; the dough was dense and hard because it had not risen, and wasn't very filling. I was never asked what was wrong with the stuffed bread, nor offered a refund, alternative, or anything. I handed the remainder of the stuffed bread (with a literal bite and a half taken from it) and she threw it away. With inconsistencies like that just over two days, and no concern over what was wrong with the food that I was returning to them, I'll likely not be back...

I visited Village Deaux for the first time this morning at roughly 7:30am. There were a couple of cars ahead of me but the line moved quickly.I ordered three raspberry filled donuts and a dozen donut holes. I wasn't prepared for how large the filled donuts were. They are huge and they have a great flavor it almost tastes like there is extra vanilla in either the batter or the glaze and it was a nice change of taste. Next time I will have to get my five year old two dozen donut holes because he loved them. The only con that there is here is that I think there needs to be a menu outside. Not all donut shops have the same things so I asked about a menu and the man at the window gave me a paper one to look over before I ordered but it's not enough of an issue for me to deduct from my review. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED This delicious sweets shop opened up a few months ago, and I decided to give it a try. Boy was I impressed. Firstly, I'd like to thank and commend the staff and owner for the absolute best service I've received in a while! All of them were so helpful on choosing a king cake (pictured) for my fiance'. I had tons of questions and concerns to find the "perfect" choice for her and they did not complain or become short with me at any point of our conversation. Secondly, the taste is like no other. The products that are offered are authentic, not something that tastes generic to say the least.
