I just left this shop empty handed. Not because of the overpriced chocolate i was willing to buy, but because the skinny chick that was training the apparently new guy accused my boyfriend and of not standing in line because we werent standing at the ice cream freezer. Yes we followed the line to the cashier because the shop was filling up with customers by the second.
Once the customer in front of moved we were questioned by the girl with "were you in line?" We said yes we were. Then says "were you called up?"
Well excuse us for following the people IN FRONT of us!
She goes back and forth with my boyfriend about called up and proceeds to say "well I'll help you this time but in the future wait"
At this point I was done. I wasnt spending my money in a place that was more concerned about not looking stupid in front of customers by falsely accusing them than they are about respecting paying customers.
But hey here's a tip for you, if you are apparently so stressed at work that you want pick fights for people "not standing in line" why dont you be the leader that you think you are and get from behind the counter and direct the line because clearly only standing against the cooler isnt enough when rush hour hits
FYI we were not the only ones that stood closer to the registers. And the comment you made to women behind us "thank you for standing in line" check the cameras! My boyfriend had a purple shirt on. I had a black and red hoodie on. We were in at about 12:45 , waiting in line for...
Read moreIf I could bottle up a smell and add it to this review, Riverside Chocolate Factory would get a million stars just for that alone.
Step inside, and you’re instantly transported to chocolate paradise. Every inch of the store is packed with confections, many of them handmade and crafted right on site. And let me tell you: they do not hold back on the caramel or the chocolate. Everything is dipped, coated, and layered to perfection. Pure indulgence.
They have an amazing selection of gift options for just about every occasion and holiday. Good luck picking just one—everything is tempting!
Beyond the chocolates, they serve delicious ice cream, shakes, popcorn, and handmade fudge. My favorite is a banana shake, made with vanilla ice cream and a whole ripe banana—no fake syrups or extracts here. Just fresh, real ingredients. (Can you say potassiYUM?)
It’s a great place to bring the kids for a special treat, too—their eyes light up the moment they step through the door. The staff are friendly and always serve you with a smile, even with summertime lines sometimes wrapping around the building!
There is a nice outdoor garden seating area and plenty of parking, so it’s easy to relax and enjoy your treats when the weather is nice.
Everything I’ve ever purchased here has been thoroughly enjoyed and 100% worth it. If you’re ever passing through the area, do yourself a favor and make this a must-stop destination. One million stars Riverside...
Read moreI won't be back. I have known this place since I was younger. I knew the building when it was a hotdogs stand and not the Chocolate Factory. I went today and I will say their system for a line and check out is pretty smart. They were SOOO busy it was crazy. the service was as prompt as it could be for how busy it was. Everyone was very helpful and nice. I ordered 4 Chocolate shakes. They didn't ask a size so I assumed there was only one size. I didn't see it on the menu it was very crowded and busy. I bought 3 Chowards mint candy pack that were 1.50 ea. When I was checked out my total was 48.64 Uhhhhmmm WHAT?? the candy was 4.50 the rest was for shakes. I was in complete shock. They asked if I wanted a receipt. I said yes I was going to see how much they charge per shake. Website doesn't have ice cream prices that I could find. My receipt was not detailed. it was the total charge. I know a handmade shake is usually at least 6,8 or 9 for certain sz or place. Almost 11$ for a shake?????? really yah I will not go back. Honestly the shake wasn't even super great. NO shake is worth 11$ but if it was GREAT, I might have been eeehhh ok you pay for what you get. I have had handmade shakes from other establishments particularly in McHenry that were better. I am not sure if they used too much Chocolate syrup or what but the shakes were not your typical chocolate shake color. They were pretty dark and kinda a grayish chocolate color...
