Ice Cream Bandits — Restaurant in McMillan Township

SLOW and CONFUSING

Visiting Newberry, from Ohio, for dinner, we saw this cute ice cream stand on the way in. After dinner, we decided to try it out. Having never been here before, I approached the front. There are 2 windows. This is where things got confusing. There were 3 sets of people standing or sitting around. No lines. It appeared that some people received their order and others were waiting for their order. I did not know what window to order from, so I stood by one of them. About 10 minutes later, an employee handed out ice cream to a couple from the other window. I thought, ok, maybe I can order now? Nope. The employee starts taking the order from a man and his little boy. So I got in line behind him. All of the sudden , several teenagers, who I thought had received their order, jumped up and ordered several specialty ice cream dishes. This man with the little boy was also their dad! So after taking their order, I wait. The employee took 5 minutes to get 2 of their items out. So I waited. The employee is now in the back mixing up more concoctions. In the meantime, there are 2 other employees. One is busy with the drive thru, and I think the other was cleaning up. My big mistake was that I arrived 10 minutes before closing. I left 10 minutes after closing. So I waited 20 minutes, and never got acknowledged to be waited on. My impatience got the best of me, and I left. While driving off, I noticed that the employee was looking out the window at me, like why are you leaving? I felt bad, but I had to be somewhere an hour drive away. All I wanted was a vanilla cone. Nothing fancy. I guess I may never know how it tastes.

What a great ice cream place. They have 3 soft serve flavors and many hard scoops flavors. I’m boring as I tend toward the vanilla soft serve. A medium was more than enough. It appears that they serve food as well but that wasn’t in my plans. The service was friendly and very personable. Best of luck to this incoming freshman at MSU. Ice Cream Bandits was so good! We had a large family group order and they took care of us very quickly even though they also had a long line in their drive thru at the same time. The food was delicious (we all ordered some type of meal), and everyone loved what they got...which is hard to do when you have 13 people. The ice cream was sooo yummy too! Would definitely recommend you...
