My best friend and I try to meet at this restaurant once a year. We LOVE IT. I live in Eugene and she lives in Redding. A few years ago we went for the first time and her little girl was about 1. We loved the kid friendly atmosphere. Her kiddo devoured the whipped topping and it was all over her face. It's our favorite photo from that trip. She just had another baby and she's about the same age as when we first went and couldn't wait to recreate this special memory. Her baby girl was very fiesty tonight. Pretty much inconsolable. We tried everything to get her to calm down. We eventually decided to order our food to go. My friend decided to leave and run to the store while we waited for the food. During this situation, we could hear the folks in the booth next to us talking to our waiter and just going off on him. We didn't want to cause him any trouble. That is why we decided to order to go. Our waiter Daniel seemed rather sad that we felt we needed to leave. He was awesome. While my friend was gone we could hear the manager talking to the people behind us and talked some really negative things about us. we could hear the entire conversation. I'm so glad my friend wasn't there. It was so upsetting. I then asked to speak with him but was told he was too busy. His boss came over and I explained to him what happened. I told him I wanted him to hear from his customer how he made us feel when he was trying to make someone else feel better. I get he needed to descalate the situation but to do so in a way that makes your customer feel less than is wrong. When his boss was looking for him, it turned out the owner had witnessed the situation and ended up sending that manager home and comped our meal. We were told that there is no way they would ever tell a baby to be quiet. I hope this is a learning experience for that young manager. I pray for growth for him. I'm sure he was in a tough spot. The other manager told us, people need to understand, if they come here, kids will be here. The waiter Daniel handled the situation perfectly. I am giving a 4 star instead of a one because he worked really hard to make sure it was right for us as he had kids of his own and understood where we were at. We go there because not many restaurants are as kid friendly as this place. Unfortunately, we didn't feel that way tonight because of some jerk customer and a young manager who has some...
Read moreI had to edit this review that had been a 5 star. I understand that restaurants are struggling during this pandemic, but one way to help themselves is to make sure that they are putting out quality food. When we ordered over the phone, we were told that it would be 10 minutes until out food was ready. Seems very speedy. I live about 3 minutes down the road. Upon arriving back home and sitting down to eat, i suspect that it was so quick because they had little intentions of heating the food. Everything was lukewarm to cold. Pretty dissapointing to spend money on something so unpleasant to eat. It also doesn't instill much confidence that the food was very fresh as it was most definitely heated to order. The rice tasted off, not sure if its because its bad or that it was not heated all the way. Unfortunately I'm not inclined to eat here again until they are putting out a better quality of food. Its hard to feel like I'm wasting money when i myself am out of work.
I love this place. To each their own, but I find that some menu items are most definitely better than others. I wont tell you what I didn't like because it may be just my personal preferences but I will tell you what I love about this place. Beans with your chips and salsa, the shredded beef has the best flavor in town so far, I've never found any connective tissue that I needed to spit out and it's never dry. Best chimichangas around, and the enchiladas are always great. Dont forget to try the green enchilada sauce at least once. You might never get the red again. And lastly, at the end of your meal, if you've ordered an alcoholic beverage they come with free tequila poppers! There's a couple good Mexican food joints in town and this is one of them! Not to mention I've never had anything less than quality service here. The staff is always welcoming and helpful. If you haven't already,...
Read moreThis restaurant is now located off of North Phoenix Road. The service is the best of any restaurant in the valley and beyond. You'll quickly be seated, place your order and constantly be checked on throughout your meal. The food is flavorful down to the side salad that is often only a garnishment of shredded cabbage and carrots. The side salad is bursting with flavorful that includes red cabbage, celery and more. The beans are fresh authentic refried beans. They are not saturated with any flavor beyond pinto beans. The main dish options are plentiful and packed with flavor. I highly recommend the pollo a la crema-the lunch portion is plenty. The dinner portion will have a lumberjack asking for a box when he's full. The pollo a la crema sauce is well made and compliments tender pieces of chicken breast with a balanced amount of mushrooms and onions. The el mocajete enchiladas burst with flavor of green chilies and tomatillo that marries well with the steak. The only thing that could be improved is the chips. They must come from a bag because they lack the flavor that everything else has. However, if you're used to filling up on chips this may be a good excuse not to. Save more room for the meal that is sure to fill your belly. If a margarita is on your mind, give their's a try. One will be enough for most and the flavor is on point. When your finished take a shot of (champagne?) from a custom shot glass that is...
