Handel's Homemade Ice Cream — Restaurant in Medina

I'm only leaving this review because I'd like to see more options for sizes. They give out a lot of ice cream way more than I'd eat. I'd asked for just one scoop but the girl said the only sizes the had were 2,3,4. I didn't want two scoops of ice cream. I also didn't want to give my kids such a large portion. She said they had half scoop which was the smallest they could go. That was pretty disappointing. She did say it was baby size but I didn't have anything to really go by because this was our first time but it's like large marble sized amount. She wasn't exaggerating definitely baby sized. Also being our first time there's no real way to know if you'll like the flavor or not so you pick and hope for the best. I don't know if I'd come back because of the logistics and I didn't actually like the flavor I had. It was just kind of disappointing overall. I don't know if you can try flavors but the line is so long you don't want to hold the line up asking a bunch of questions. My tip here is add one scoop or kids size scoop option and maybe display amounts or...

I have visited this Handel’s for years but this summer has been the absolute worst. I am so disappointed in this location. This used to be my favorite ice cream spot but now I have no reason to go back. We got 3 chocoholic peanut butter ripple milkshakes (I’ve gotten this hundreds of times) and the first sip is chocolate milk with Reese’s chunks. It’s supposed to be chocoholic peanut butter ice cream and milk that’s it. It was disgusting. I can’t even drink it. I don’t know what this lady did but it tastes like a combination of milk, chocolate syrup, and Reese’s. Don’t even think there’s any ice cream. The last time we were there they put so much peanut butter syrup in my fiancé’s hurricane when he did not want that and it was just horrible. It is just not that hard to scoop ice cream. I know they have hired new people but someone should be there to make sure they actually know what they are doing. I’m just mad I paid $12 for this. 7/21 update - I’m only updating this to say that while the area is clean and the ice cream is great, the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I’m not sure what the employees that were working tonight around 5pm were thinking, but trying to serve my husband and I the scraps from the bottom of your ice cream barrel and the literal liquid from your whipped cream container is insulting. I came back after opening the bag and seeing how I was just ripped off, only for the same employee to act like she didn’t do anything wrong and to tell me that it must have melted in the car. Lol I live 2 mins away from the ice cream shop. It didn’t melt. The worker thought she was being funny and that I wouldn’t be back. Train your employees to do better.
