The Elkhorn Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Meeteetse

Ordered a side order of onion rings for $6. When order came only 3 regular sized onion rings. When asked the server if that was correct the answer was yes only 3 onion rings per side order. When clarified and asked if the price was really $2 per onion ring & only 3 onion rings in a side order of onion rings the answer was yes! And the server was irritated at the question. $13.95 for a normal sized reuben sandwich served with french fries and smallest amount of french fries (maybe 10 fries) ever seen with a sandwich. Soda was flat without enough syrup. So for a Reuben sandwich, side order of onion rings, one beer and one soda that bill was $26.00!!! This is highway robbery. Is this because this WY native was in a car with out of state plates? Response to owner who responded to this review: While I appreciate the owner taking the time to respond, I stand by my review and rating. When ordering in the restaurant we were very clear we ordered a side of onion rings. Yes, we did share the sandwich as the elderly person in the party is not able to eat a lot of food at one serving. And, when asking the server about the onion rings there was absolutely no confusion. The service was very poor, the prices are too high for what is served, and we will not be back to...

I purposefully stopped in Meeteetse Wy for gas rather than stopping in Cody. It was rolling up on dinner and I was feeling a bit peckish, since the day started before the sun was in the sky. I made the Duke proud though since I wasn't wasting daylight. Around the corner from the only gas station in town was the Elkhorn Bar and Grill so I parked in front and went inside. The establishment was busy with the noise of a local crowd swapping stories about weather and local news. The special was meatloaf taters and gravy, now this told me it was authentic food and not big city. I settled in at the counter and ordered Bull Fries and Bunless Burger for dinner. The waitress did a great job keeping me filled up with drinks as she danced around the room taking care of everyone. The dinner was good and filling, the mood in the building was one that is hard to find in world today, peaceful. Yet, dinner ended and the path back to bride was getting shorter do I saddled up...

We ordered steak fingers and fish plus extra side salad. The side salad was $5.50...a little pricey for a bowl of lettuce with onion ring and croutons. The fish was not good. First piece I broke open had water run out of it. It was probably frozen and fryer was so hot it cooked outside before inside cooked. It had a strange odor, too. The steak fingers were fair, not much flavor. The french fries were good. The waitress took the fish off our ticket when we complained. We appreciated that.
